Any Suggestions?

Hey all, I'm currently in the process of buying a new high end rig. Got a full spec to post. Just want to see if I've made any major mistakes or if it could be improved any, without too much cost.


So, as asked for here's the questions asked. I've skipped a few, as I already know:
• Bournemouth, UK
• £2500 budget
• Just the system
• 3D CGI Work/Gaming
• Some over clocking
• Full build


So here are the specs so far:

Corsair HX 1050W PSU
XSPC Raystorm 750 EX240 Kit
Windows 7 Pro 64-Bit
BitFenix Spectre PRO 120mm Fan Green LED
BitFenix Spectre PRO 140mm Fan Green LED

One question I do have is, I had planned to around Feb next year add another 16GB of mem. I've been advised against this and told I should buy a 32GB kit now, so I get matching sticks. The person in question knows a lot about memory, so I've taken his advice, but is their anyway I could get away with getting 16GB now and 16GB in Feb?

That's a pretty solid build, but that PSU is a bit old now, and also overkill in wattage. Even if you get an AX860 you'll have enough headroom to add another GTX 780.

The thing about the memory is that he probably means that even if you buy the same kit, with the same specs, from the same manufacturer, there's still a small chance that the second kit is from a different batch and the manufacturer may have made slight changes.

This usually isn't a big deal though, and it won't really affect performance, if at all. If you want to be on the safe side though, and you have the money for it, by all means go for the 32GB kit.

Person who I talked to about it said they could have different IC's and that it can affect performance a little. Only problem with getting the 32GB kit is that I was thinking of getting the 780Ti instead of the 780. I can afford both right now.

Well it's not that old now that I checked it, I thought it was older. Think it was released in the start of 2011. I'm pretty sure you could still watercool SLI cards on the AX860(i). Tom's running an overclocked 3970x and 2x 7970s watercooled in Orca on that PSU.

Guess at least it's silent if the fan never spins up at all.

I thought it only came out September this year? Maybe I've got it totally wrong, but I'm sure I was wating for the 4930k proc and the Ramp Extrem Black to come out for my build, lol.

I may just get 16GB then, so I can get the Ti, personally I want the Ti more than the 16GB of mem, which I can afford in 2 months anyway, lol.
