You need to create a bootable CD, then boot from the CD.

The manual, the link above, describes how to do this.

Should be fairly straight forward from there on in.

never mind, i got it to work in macrium, the disk was formatted wrong, its "layout" wasn't partition, it was something else :/ lemme try cloning now

If it's on the same drive you may as well, I've found it useful before.

i decided not to because if i already have it on the other drive its just wasting space on my new drive.

What do you mean by the HDD file? Do you mean you can't access the drive itself?

You should now be able to remove your old hard drive, plug your new one in to where you had your old one plugged in on the motherboard (not necessary but just to be safe) and boot into windows.

i tried booting windows off of it, everything was corrupted :/

it sounds like someone is trying to clone an OEM'd windows installation off one PC onto another !!! tut tut - it does not work :/
