I havent been around for a while cause it seemed to me interest in modded computers had diminished.

(thats all I know how to do, lol)

I think mods are freaking awesome, especially the great mods you do mark. When i get the cash flow i'll surely be taking a bit of knowledge from you to do some mods of my own.

I took it easy this time with the pretty much maxed out stacker but next time for my bday I'm definitely getting a bigger plainer case for modding.

Mods are cool.

I have been wandering the internet and become very disillusioned with the modding contests.

It seems like its either the person with the most friends/internet accts wins or if there are judges they have a very limited knowledge of modding in general.

These people dont seem to realize they are lowering the interest/standards in modding.

I really want to elevate modding to improve the basic design of the comp, spinning machine gun barrels or faces that pop out the side of a comp are fine but they do nothing to improve the computer.

Do you think I am just whining or that I have a point?

(be honest as you are too far away for me to get mad at,lol)

Seems like a pretty strong response so far, does overclocking, changing fans and cooling count as modding?

It's modding hardware, although I think mark means more cutting the case up and stuff :)

Any modification to stock counts really mate.. but you get different levels from mere tinkering around to hacking things about and total fabrication.

I am not a fan of actually cutting holes but as mentioned above I have done my fair share of other modding over the years. Cutting holes just scares the s**t out of me especially when you pay £100 for a decent case nowadays.

For me modding = changing.

Modifying your comp...could be an added fan to improve airflow, a light to brighten it up, or a completely new design.

We are all different and what you like I may not so making yourself happy is #1 (remember you have to live with it) We also all have different skill levels, I remember a while ago when Ham was building his own cooling unit (beyond my skill level) It was a blast watching his progress. So if you add a fan sweet!

Do what you know..

I dont like modding my case etc but I do love overclocking even though im kind of new to overclocking.

Ur a modder too, lol. If you plan on OCing ur gonna need to know about voltages and cooling.

OH ok then. I love modding because I have my CPu and Graphics card overclocked. I am also after adding waercooling to my CPU. But changing the looks of my computer doesnt appeal to me in any way.

Is there any chance of OC3d starting up a modding comp?

My first mod is restarted, just got £120 of supplies ordered from specialtech :worship:

Hey Mark,

Long time no see!

Yes I love modding but I don't class what I have done as modding. I class modding as getting a stock case and changing it quite drastically or designing a new case from scratch.

Taking a jig/hole saw/dremel to a case is hardly modding in my eyes - it is just a necessity to fit w/c and get some cable management!

Taking a jigsaw to your case is modding, no matter what way you turn it :)

+1 for modding. But as it's already been said - It takes time.

I've currently got 2 projects on the go. One has been flawed with problems from the word go, and the other has been in the planning stages since the middle of last year.

Thankfully, one has started taking shape, and I'm gonna be photographing every second of it once there's something to see.

Yep I like it, I've chopped some of the crappy grating in my case apart tonight and last.. erm need a dremel for some better cable routing. Needs a little painting, as long as it looks decent then im pretty pleased :)

Welcome back Mark! Missed you mate! :)

And lol, silly question to ask on a OCing forum, of course we all love computer modding!

;)

Who ever said "can't be bothered" must be shot! :o
