Any Ideas What I could be doing wrong?

As you may or may not know i bought a mach just before christmas and gave up :( I tried selling the mach with no luck and obviously as it cost a lot of money wasnt going to give it away, any I bought a used lian li Kit and PC60 and did the black spray job etc etc, got a Opti 175 the other day and tested it on air at 2.75ghz with 1.55v no problems. Swapped the mobo into the pc60 and mounted the mach head. boots no problem then clicks off. reboots and its fine try a little overclocking I up the vcore to 1.55 again and go for 280 x 10 boots clicks off then mach shuts down, restart go into bios leave it at 280 x 10 but put the vcore to stock and its stable? now is this a cold bug? or a power issue or possibly a bad contact, i have changed the psu since it was running on air from a hyper 520w to a enermax liberty 620w so cant be sure but the volts in the bios look fine.
 
Sounds like power but you shouldnt have any power trouble with that Liberty.... Weird. Can you try removing the power from stuff like the opticals, some RAM, unplug the HDD(s) that ya dont have windows on? etc etc... :)

On the bright side, ya can do 2.8 at defaut voltage ;)

Yeah I know 2.8ghz is fine, the thing is, nothing apart from mobo, gfx, soundcard 1 hdd and ram is currently installed and this combination worked fine under air which is weird why it doesnt like volts under mach 8) I'll try the previous psu this evening
 
Have ya/ can ya try hooking up just the Mach control card but leave the stock cooling on and see what happens there. Leave the Mach compressor unplugged and see if anything weird happens with the control card? :)

Ah, just realised something I havent yet hooked up the usb for the control card :$
 
Also, 280 is a lot to ask of a phase cooled system - not impossible but the symptoms you describe aren't exactly what I would expect if the FSB was too high.

Also - under phase you dont really need as much volts in the CPU. I find the DFI works best if you set the volts at say 1.4v and then use the special VID control to make up the rest - An example Dazboot needs 1.45v to achieve 3.15Ghz on a water cooled FX60, whereas under phase I need just 1.4v to achieve the same (using same volts I can get 3.25Ghz).

Try adjusting the HTT multiplier (assuming you are already at x4, try x3) - I find under phase as well in the DRAM settings, there are two drive strength settings, I find that 7 and 2 (30%) work best for me in the EXPERT, but I think the non EXPERT boards only have settings 1-8 in the first drive strength settings so try setting it to 5 & 2

Finally - under phase the memory controller (LDT Voltage control) usually requires 1.3 or even 1.4 volts to work properly.

The power/USB issue could also be contributing, I am not fully up to speed on the liberty specs - ensure that the weakest rail supply is supplying drives and fans (the 8a rail will be PCI-E u can't put that anywhere else).

Thanks for the pointers, I sucessfully had it upto 320htt under the mach with my opti 146 but basically what im trying to say is my system isnt as stable as it was under air with more volts as it is now. I'll have a little more time to tinker tonight :D
 
Apart from selling the unit, which is a shame - knowing you can get that sort of FSB on air - It's likely that you are suffering the cold bug every Opteron (and FX60 user) dreads. Options are maybe use a standard Mach 2 (with R134 cooling) to bump the temps up a bit to overcome the cold issue and provide a more stable platform at higher FSB - or (which is what I think you are doing) retreat back to air or water.

I might be able to do you a part ex swap for the GT with a 134 unit for you to try?

Or if you deicde to drop the phase project, the RAM I am selling in the classifieds section would allow you to run HI FSB 1:1 with 1T timings - AWESOME STUFF!!

Update

Took out the enermax and put in a "hyper" 520 and its perfect now can up the volts on the cpu without any prob

Strange that the Liberty cant handle it and the Hiper can.... You got any way to adjust the Liberty?

Nope, neither does the liberty but the hyper overvolts a little but seems to help currently at 3ghz with 1.5v, its possible the liberty could just be faulty and that what caused my epox to blow
 
Overvolting is a way of compensating a PSU on the Ragged edge.

If I was you I would seriously consider the new 750w PCP&C PSU that EPUK is getting in stock Mid March ;)

That may all well be, Ive bought PCP&C 510 SLI and now an Enermax 620 Liberty at the cost of £260+ (for the pair) and to put it bluntly my £60 Hiper is out performing both PERIOD, ( i can say this as my gtx would only clock to 520core under the pcp&c and did 540 under the hiper) I get where your coming from, but in this case doesnt seem to matter, longetivity will tell but for the moment cheap rules imo! At the end of the day we are over clockers and live to the ragged edge (no one has a warranty) and in my book if some cheapo psu out performs a one costing twice as much then i more than happy!!!!!!!!!!
