Antec Tri Cools. Not as bad as everyone makes out.

Using a H50, in my old case, an Antec 902, I could prime for 12 hours solid and a Q9650 @ 1.38V would max core at 67C. This was using push pull antec tri cools on full blast, which you dont mind if your at work, you just turn them down when you get back after stability testing.

In my new case, Haf-X, I got two Bit Phoenix Spectre fans, 120mm, and for exactly the same VCore, coretemp reaches 70 odd degrees after a couple of minutes. I don't want to imagine how hot it would be after 12 hours.

So yeah. They might be loud, but for prime stability testing, on full whack, I personally find them a lot better.

And yes, I know its completely different fan speed, so you can't really compared, but the tri cools give you the option of speeding them up without a fan controller.

I've never liked the tricools, they've always been too noisy for me. In all the Antec cases I've had I've always replaced them with quieter ones. Except the 200mm big boy fan in the 900 - I turned right down with a fan controller.

yeah, they're noisey on full but its a juggling act aint it. When you're up at 1.4 volts on a Core2Quad you want maximum cooling potential on prime. I have found that down at the low speeds, I don't get it. I can have quiet when it's normal scenario, and full blast loud when I want the performance from the fan.
