Antec Kuhler H20 620 temps

Hi folks, been a long time since I've been on the OC3D forums.

I run a 3770 overclocked to 4.1-4.3GHz turbo and used to get temps of a maximum of 60C in linpack but recently I tested and it went up to 80C so I stopped the test after the first two loops of it. I changed the thermal paste over today to some Gelid GC-Extreme as it is supposed to be about 1C cooler than NT-H1 what I usually use. The paste on the pump block on my Antec 620 was stock when it was going up to >80C. After the change to new paste its idling 10C cooler (an average across all cores of 14.75C) but loads temps after doing 10 loops of linpack brings me up to 75C still with the side panel off.

I have heard my pump making loud noises before, stupidly loud, I was on the other side of the house in a room with the door shut and heard it. So I'm wondering if it is the cooler itself that is the main problem? Performance degredation of the pump maybe. The fan I use on it is a gentle typhoon 1850, my intakes are a pair of Silverstone air penetrators in the front (modded in a 240mm radiator plate to the front) and my exhaust is a Noctua NF-S12B in a Corsair 600TM (mesh window variant).

Viewing temps in HW monitor.

Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like the pump is giving up, I own a seidon 120 (not famed for quiet pumps) and even at full speed I can't hear it over my fans. I'd reccomend you change the cooler before it fails.

Thanks a lot, useful to know. I've had it a few months over a year now so I'll just get a new cooler rather than fussing for RMAs if it has a warranty still. The reason I went closed loop is because I don't like the thought of hanging a few KGs of metal off a point of my motherboard, even though it is safe. Any recommendations along with the Coolermaster Seidon 120?

Will consider using a regular heatsink cooler. Might actually fork out for a D14.
