Another System Build!

Heya Peeps!

So this is my 3rd build within a few weeks, I've been pretty busy the last week or so and thus haven't had time to upload this build log. But let's cut to the chase!

A friend of mine had a hard drive failure, and with the system being a few years old wanted a full upgrade. So after talking and a few ideas of what he wanted we came to the following spec, and yes it's another AMD Build.

Corsair Carbide 500R Case
AMD FX8350 Vishera 8 Core 4.0Ghz
Asus Sabertooth 990FX AM3+ R2.0
Asus GeForce GTX 660Ti
Corsair Vengeance Black 8GB (1600mhz)
Creative SoundBlaster Z
Kingston HyperX 128GB SSD
Seagate Barracuda 1TB SATAIII
Corsair TX750M PSU

Steelseries Sensei Mouse
Razer Blackwidow Ultimate 2013 Keyboard

The system actually performs pretty darn good. Also managed a good overclock of 4.9Ghz @ 1.41v with temps being at around 50c or so if I recall correctly.

I also overclocked the 660Ti and got a pretty impressive overclock:

Now that's done, I guess it's time for some pictures!

Watercooling prep:

The H100i fans shall be configured in a pull thus allowing ease of cleaning of the rad. Also the fans will be mounted in the top part of the case.

Pretty happy with how the build went, and the performance it gives is good and should last my friend a good while. Any questions feel free to post :)

Cheers

Why do people continually put the power supply in upside down?

Cases these days are designed to put it in fan side down so that it gets cool air and exhausts it out of the back without using system air. As you have it now it's sucking in waste heat from the rig. It also looks worse because you have more cable from the PSU going across the rig into the back.

Other than that it looks like you've done a decent job of putting it together :)

I don't personally do it but it's an aesthetic thing that hides the big sticker you often get on the bottom of the power supply. Also I think with how efficient and relatively cool PSUs are these days it makes little to no difference to performance.

You can mount it anyway you like thats why both PSU and cases have 2 mounts. It makes SFA difference to system air and PSU's dont get hot unless they are crap.

I put my PSU's in fan up and always have.... Its what the cool kids do nowa-days ;)

Haha, I was wondering if you were gonna get a rise out of people with that
question

Anyway, I think main reason is aesthetics, as mentioned.

On a side note, I've been running a Corsair HX520, pulling 300 W from the wall
socket pretty much 24/7 since 2007 and it has yet to behave improperly. ;)

I know it's not exactly very high loads for the thing, but it's been chugging
along for five and a half years by now, 24/7, which I think is pretty nice.
It's one my best PC purchases so far I think.

EDIT: Just realized, the point of me mentioning this is that it has been running
fan side up the entire time.

I mount them both way's, What ever takes my fancy at the time. As well as my friends preference.

Like Tom said, It makes sweet FA difference. The PSU Fan is active, and it doesn't even spin unless needed too. The PSU is designed to be mounted both way's (Sticker is inverted on side) as is the case.

Just personal preference at the end the day.

The PSU in my old system mounts in the top and you have to place it in fan down due to the top of the case being almost against the upper side of the PSU. It never runs hot being at the top of the case and it is not as efficient as today's PSUs. The fans barely run.

i dont see it as "upside down" i see it as the right way up.. tbh ive never noticed any difference in temps inside and chassis ive installed psu's in.

most even 4 years ago had active pfc and if they didnt they were crap and ran hot anyways..

anyways nice tidy build upthere hope your friend is happy with it i would be :D

The reason why i mounted my psu with the fan down is to get a positive preasure situaltion in my case. I dont want to get all the dust sucked in to my case.

people do that because it looks nice with the cooler on top, i have a modular PSU, i can just put the cables on the other side.
/edit
forgot to mention that it doesnt matter at all from where the fan pulls the air because it is barely ever spinning. and when it does it stops after 15 seconds.

other than that, i like it besides the side fan. i am not a fan of 200mm fans, i am not a fan of clear plastic fans and i am not a fan of LED fans. i'd put a sidepanel with window on that and then some LED strips in the case.
