An Intel made Enthusiasts board...

That is the "Bad Axe" board that everyone is using right now for testing conroe. The 3 PCI express 16x slots are actually 16x/1x/4x when in single video 8x/8x/4x when in crossfire. It doesn't technically support SLI but there are hacked drivers out there that allow it. It seems to be FSB limited though at around 450mhz which is going to limit alot of OCs with conroes as they love FSB :) People are saying if the board went to 500 or even 600 there would be alot higher clocks. I personally am going to wait for the DFI nForce 590 Intel Edition board to come out in Aug/Sep. It looks to be VERY nice :) Hexus got some pics of it from DFI in Tiawan but I can't find the link right now.

I'm very tempted to buy this board. I know that DFI will probably come up with something better, but seeing some of the conroe overclocks on this board already makes me think that it's a good contender....and i want to get the conroe the day it's in the stores.

so this new intel conroe gona wipe the floor with am2?

At the moment (until AMD unleash the big guns), the Conroe wipes the floor with AM2 offerings.

so conroe fits into a normal s755 mobo? what makes theses boards specially desighned for conroe or would any intel perform better on these new boards? just curious?

Yes it fits LGA775 boards, however the Conroe has low voltage requirements (and will require a BIOS update), so many boards will not be compatible.

I've owned ASUS mobo's before, all on Intel platform. I've never had any dramas with Windows on them at all. Actually, ASUS make some pretty sweet Intel boards and I'd expect some nicely featured boards for 'Conroe'. One thing their boards do suffer from is Vcore droop. :(

Ye, Asus do make some nice boards for the Intel platform, and their upcoming Conroe board looks nice too.

However, i've seen Gigabyte's offering and it looks pretty immense - can anyone say 12-Phase power!!!

Gigabyte

yeah that board looks sweet and i heard that asus do make sum of the best intel boards but im stil new to custom pc's lol and my trouble with this board on amd shouldnt effect me in the long term. these conroe boards do seem to me more on the proccesing power rather than the graphics side shame you cant get the best of both worlds... well yet anyway.:p

For ATi's upcoming Crossfire 2+1 technology. :worship:

Nick

ATI's 2+1 is only on their new chipset and currently there are no mobo companies that have picked up on it and started production on one that is known to the public. This is a standard Intel 975x chipset not the ATI one.
