Hello everybody on OC3D!

Hey, I joined a while ago but haven't been on for a while (too much work :S). So recently one of my friends were looking to get a nice gaming rig for around 700 bucks (no windows), and as I was coming up with a list of parts I saw that I was 100 dollars over budget, originally I had in mind a 2500k (I mean its such a good gaming deal) and a cheap 100 dollar motherboard (he doesnt know much about computers so he probly wont OC). So I decided to go with an AMD Phenom II 965 for 110 bucks (on sale). I was wondering whether that CPU would bottleneck a GTX 560 ti (on sale for 190 bucks) so that he could easily play Diablo 3 at high settings 1080p. Also, I was thinking of a 550W 80+ Bronze OCZ PSU. Do you guys think that'll be enough? Last thing, for a 100 dollar AM3 motherboard what do you guys recommend? I don't know much in the way of AMD motherboards and would glady love a recommendation! The rest of the specs are here...

AMD Phenom II 965 - $109.99

OCZ ZT Series 850W PSU - $49.99

CoolerMaster HAF 912 Case - $59.99

Motherboard? (Please give me a recommendation no more than 110 dollars, no need for OC, just stable and reliable, USB 3 prefered)

EVGA GTX 560 ti - $189.99

WD Caviar Black 1 tb - $99.99

Asus DVD/CD read/writer - $19.99

Any other things that come to mind I would glady like to know. Thanks guys!

Also, I found a Phenom II x6 1045T for 100 dollars, would that be better?

The processor is completely fine for a gaming rig. You'll only ever bottleneck the cards if you have like 4 7970s or GTX 690s in SLI so dont worry at all about that.

It will easily run diablo 3 yes. I'm building my mate a pc in the next few weeks, same processor and a 5830, and that will easily enough run diablo 3 in max settings.

Regarding the motherboard, if you arent overclocking then there's no need to spend even $110 on the board. Just go as cheap as you can and it'll all be reliable enough dont worry.

motherboard ill recommend to you is an asus m5a88-v evo, ive ran it for the last 6 months with an fx4100 and never had any issues with it, the bios is simple to use and it also has decent onboard specs, cost is approx 80 quid (so around $120) when i bought it, but i would say its cheaper now, there may be better for cheaper, but its one to consider based just on my own personal experience with it

If he's not overclocking at all, then a motherboard like that is overkill

wait so of these three CPUs, which is best for gaming: FX-4100, Phenom II x4 965, Phenom II x6 1045T (they are all the same price)

the 965 is the best out of those three

better stepping = better clock speeds

but.... i would add a little extra money and get a 1090T
