AMD X4 vs Intel i5

im thinking on upgrading my PC but stuck on what CPU to buy so ive turned to the forums and the users to help me decide ive been looking at the AMD X4 955 and 965 also with a quick peek at the X6 models but as these are cheaper than the Intel i5 range are they better the same or worse

any help will be appreciated thanks

Ive just changed from a 1100t (AMD hex core) to an i5 2500k...

Intel literally smashes the performance of the AMD CPU to bits, overclocks alot easier, further and is significantly faster IMO

i would use it mainly for the following:

gaming, video editing, school work

all the app's that demand really xD

I'd personally say that if you can afford a 2500K with a good Z68 or P67 mobo then you should go that route.

If your on a tight budget then the 955 is a good option.

Also bare in mind that buldozer should be here soon so we might see the prices of both these drop and in that time more Z68 boards should be out. Can't say I blame you if you don't wait though

Even with rendering, a 2 min test clip for a YT intro used to take 5.30 mins ish, takes just over 4 mins now.
