No good for folding then, I've heard they run quite hot...

Does anyone have any system power draw figures for a 7950 & 7970 when folding?

All my points are coming from smp atm - need to jump on the gpu band wagon if I want to get into the top 20 by the end of the year...

I just moved from a radeon 6970 to a GTX 780 and it's gone from about 20-25K PPD up to 165K PPD. A 290/290X ought to be exceptionally good once fully supported.

Same name as on here. Haven't been folding since july as the heat output and power usage were too high. I'm not sure anything will show up for today yet as it just finished a core 15 at 30K and just started a core 17 which is estimating 160K now with a 3min TPF.

my 3570k at 4.4 and my 7950 draw about 225-275 watts while folding. Hope that helps

Is that with the 3570k folding on 3 cores, leaving a complete core for the 7950? or is that just the gpu on its own?

correct - SMP on 3 cores, one left for the gpu
