amd vs intel

i cant decide at first i was gona go for intel but is it realy worth the extra money if i went intel it would be the i54670k and im lookin at the amd 9590 if its the best amd cpu mainly for gaming idk

The 9590 can be a pain to keep cool. Its also appears to cost more than the i5. I'ds go for the 8350 over the 9590 as there are also not many motherboards that support the 9590. In terms of new games that make use of the cores the 8350 can be better/as good as the i5. If this is a gaming/streaming machine then I'd be tempted to go AMD but if it is a machine that'll be doing rendering, video editing and things like that then intel is the way.

well im gona be running a custom water loop with dual rads and i only game i may stream one day in the future and if i went amd id get a asus crosshair v formula z or maybe the sabertooth 990fx gen 3

Just get the 8350 and OC it to 5.0ghz unless you don't want to take a chance and you really want the 5.0ghz (as some 8350s can only do 4.7) The motherboard you mentioned earlier would be one of the few that can actually support the CPUs TDP.

if i went with the amd build id be shaving off about 200 bucks total i just dont know how much of a performance loss id see and whos to say te 9590 cant be oc more on water cooling

Sorry for interjecting here, but I think I've been misunderstanding something judging by what you said.

What do you mean by the motherboard supporting the TDP of the CPU?

I thought the TDP was the max amount of heat that would need to be dissipated by the CPU cooler, what's it got to do with the motherboard?

be my guess remmy im just debating well guess ill stick with amd since people seem to not have intrest in the thread

You're right. I was told that the heat does something to some motherboards in terms of the voltage needed by the CPU. I defiantly know though that the majority of AM3+ 'boards don't like the excessive voltage the 9590/9370 need.

The AMD is a great chip for gaming, you've just got to remember that it won't do amazingly well in benchmarks (AMD chips never really do) or rendering. For gaming its fine although I'd be more tempted to get the 8350 and OC it myself as you might be able to get the same clocks on a lower voltage than the 9590.

Something worth pointing out......

AMD have stopped making CPU's...... So yeah I was right all along, they didnt give a shit about the CPU enthusiasts really and were just raiding fan boys wallets.

All their funding is now going into APU's

Stopped development don't you mean? :P No one gives a crap about CPU enthusiasts sadly, especially when the market is moving towards smaller packages. You'd hope AMD did as this market was traditionally where you'd think they'd get their money from. Who knows what we'll be overclocking in 20-30 years time?

Also, hopefully the performance of AMD cpus get better as more games hopefully move towards better use of more cores (thanks to the next gen consoles) Battlefield is kind of an example.

Probably our brains, you'll just purchase Battlefield 20 by speaking your bank details to yourself then playing through an open world in your head. Maybe even if you get shot you may die.

I was leaning more towards ARM cpus but sure it is the future :D

okay here is my opinion on it. Go for the AMD chip if you're 100% sure you'll only be gaming and don't mind banking on the new consoles making games more 8 core cpu friendly. You'll also probably get hate from doing a custom loop with amd products, as such is the internet.

The intel CPU is better for rendering and other goodness like that.

guv you realize that Intel only really make apu's, for the consumer market anyway. sorry if i come off twatish, just thought that needed pointing out thats all ^_^
