AMD officially announces their new Ryzen CPU

Seriously considering one of these to replace my 3570k. Also looking forward to see what motherboards start appearing, the comparable feature sets of AM4 and z200 motherboards will be the deciding factor for a lot of people

Same, but my 6700k and EVGA Stinger. Honestly can't stand either of them.. but between Zen/AM4 boards and Vega.. I am going to have to choose:(

Funny how kids change things, there was a time my Mrs would of been fine if I wanted to do something to my PC and it meant we'd be a little short for a while, since we had a kid it's he needs this or that and my PC's needs seem to go bottom of the list

Well indeed as said priorty`s.

Even with unlimited recourses its still a truckload of money for a single card. I truly hope AMD is gonna give Intel a kick in the bud and hoping for a hughe pricedrop. Wishfull thinking I guess.

Jees this AMD stuff is giving me a dejavu.

A s939 Opteron on a DFI lanparty nforce 4 motherboard with OCZ memory. A Asus 6800GT with flash to unlock all cores. OMG that cpu, gpu and board nailed it. No intel pentium came near that kit. Loved it to bits. Shame DFI isnt making enthousiast boards anymore. Those were the days when AMD counted. It went downhill from that point on.

Anyways lets hope AMD got it on the right track. Can wait to see some AM4 boards.

I still think that these CPU's are NOT going to come in as cheap as what people want.

Top of the line AMD CPU i think it will come in at about $800-900 here so there not going to be that cheap.....lol

There's no way in hell that i can see retailers charging $500 for them....lol

I agree I can't see AMD releasing a cpu at 6900k performance at half the price, it's not like they are rolling in money

That's true they're not, but they do have a bad reputation with cpu's at the moment and need to win people back

They could make it around £700 about 6850k price if reviews back their claims on performance

yeah £700 would be reasonable, and a bloody steal for the performance compared to Intel. i have my fingers crossed for AMD, we will all benefit from a strong AMD end of, i just hope they're marketing team don't fluff it up.

Well it comes down to what AMD announce as the RRP price. If AMD list the RRP for their flagship at around $500 for example and retailers try to add too much on that, there will definately be a negative backlash from customers towards the re/e-tailer.

Of course they will try to bump it up but how much increase is the question. Right now the whole "from $200" is still rumors. We just have to wait and see. We can no doubt say it will still be cheaper than Intel offering at same level. As mentioned AMD need to win back some loyal users after earning a bad reputation over time.

I have been following AMD stock lately and I am liking the result and direction so far. Just need it to keep going. My biggest fear is some poor QA from them that may cause a sea of issues e.g. Nvidia 970memgate, Intel P67 cap disaster, Samsung Note 7 cheap alternative to high explosive devices.

We can only hope for good things. No one wants to see the only CPU competition suffer.

Regardless of outcome, this right now is very exciting and i hope amd can give intel a run for their money, and more to the point, excite the market again.

Even if they were to bring out something around the 6700k performance for £200 would be a good step considering not many can afford the high price of 6900k or 6850k

I see one downside here though.

Perhaps someone can correct me. Pictures of the AM4 boards are only shown so far with 4 memory slots.

Does this mean that DDR4 with AMD only supports Dual channel right now? or do we have confirmation of Quad channel support? could be a turn off for some in the market.

I am eager to see this live. Hope it won't disappoint and that the prices at our local vendors won't be crazy high. I want it to succeed.

If the price list I have seen is retail then the I7 replacement is supposed to cost $149. Remember though I did not say that. That could be trade price, without taxes etc.

AMD have not said a word yet, apart from "It will not be cheap" (From Lisa Su's mouth ages and ages ago).

Also - Dual Channel memory? meh, doesn't make much difference going quad unless you are doing some serious crap with your memory which most of us aren't. This is touted as a gaming CPU (the 8 core) so yeah dual channel is more than enough.

I think there is another thing that might pi** off the fan base too is Windows 10, So if AMD thinks that was a smart move it might just blow up in their face too.

I have said this before there is a lot more people who hate Windows 10 than like it.

Yes i have a feeling that intel is going to pull this crap too, So it might even blow up in intel face as well.

It's Microsoft's fault. Not AMD or Intel. They don't really have a choice tbh. Without there software, they lose an entire market. Not like they can pay them to change their mind, MS has more money than both:p

Kaby lake is windows 10 as well, and you may find that everything after will be

Yeah i know that, I blame all 4 of them for pulling this crap, IMO no OS should be force down peoples throat if they don't want it, If Microsoft thinks there wining with this as i has said i have seen a lot more people pi** off than liking it.

Some people have been saying on a different forum which i agree with them give Windows 10 4 years and they will put a bullet in it.

To the people saying that oh you have no choice of cause there's choice and it's called Linux people will find a way of getting Linux to work with newer hardware.

With Linux people are just too lazy to install Linux or they just can't be bother to do it.

Lord Gaben will find a way.
