AMD officially announces their new Ryzen CPU

This is awesome news, I've been an AMD fanboi for years and still rocking a Phenom X4 / R9 285 system, and I'm getting genuinely excited at the prospect of building a Ryzen / Vega rig next.

AMD RyZen(Polaris) jokes it can only be good for them and gonna be good to see what comes from great cooling solutions. I guess you don't need "Wraith" to be cool.

I'm interested in the cooler it is the more it clocks it's self, I have 480 rad and fans to go p/p wonder how high I could get it

ITS HAPPENING!!! This enhanced clockspeed item might be the kick in the pants I need to take a dip in some water cooling!

Loving all of the optimism, AMD's stocks have nearly tripled since I bought in!!!

Way more excited to be back to the red team (hopefully) as my last AMD rig was on the geriatric socket 939.

Wraith was never cool anyway;)

On a serious note though, I was pretty excited for the Vega showing. 4k over 60FPS in the Star Wars DLC is darn cool! Now not sure if it was DX12 or 11, but they didn't say so I assume 11, since 12 would have been a good marketing point.

Well all good and dandy I guess. Nice to use a 6900K as comparison. However AMD isn't always truly reliable when it comes to benchmarks. Let`s wait and see what the reviews gonna be like. I do wish it gives Intel a run for its money though. It`s time for some competition.

But it all comes down to pricing. If it aint cheap it will not kick Intel in the behind.

I will be the a**hole here like i usually am.....lol

How do we know that AMD hasn't done some ticks to make it look like this like under clocking the intel CPU and under volt it just to make it look like that their CPU is on par or beats it.

And it looks like some people are buying into the in house bench marking like they did with the 400 series GPU's wait for third parties to review it and then hype it up if it's worth while.

I'll never understand why some if not a lot of people buy into these in house benchmarks cause you all should know bye now that it's going to be skew into AMD's favour.

Yes intel & nvidia both do it soo nothing new there.

It's ok, we expect it from you these days ;)

Since when was handbrake and Blender in house benchmarks?

Also from what I understand they showed a side by side comparison of the CPU clocks at work during the two benchmarks along with the volts. ZEN came out seconds faster than the 6900k.

I've never been an AMD fan, mainly because I hated the idea of pins on chip approach. Plus they "chugged" alot of Watts. However considering the 6900k is $1100 and these are rumoured to start from just $200 I am pretty damn pleased to see threatening competition at last. Even if it was on par with Intel, the fact is that we now have an incredible price v performance war going on.

Well i might as not not hide it anymore, I'm a complete a**hole, If people don't like it that's not my problem.....lol

For a start i'm not even talking about the software i'm talking about the CPU's

That's fine if you want to think it's going to be that cheap, I have said there going going to be that cheap cause shops want to mark them up to make there own profit.

Intel can easy lower the price of their CPU, For me i would still buy Intel over AMD.

And I might still do the same. At least we now have a chance at seeing better pricing from Intel. (provided they don't lay off 5000, workers to compensate for the change)

I guess everybody still buy a Intel over AMD as off right now. Despite how and if AMD has tinkered with the Intel chip I still think Intel needs some competition. I agree with you that AMD doesn`t have a clean sheet consedering benchmarks.

But if only 50% is legit benchmarking and AMD pricing will be spot on Intel pricing will have to come down.
In the end we all benefit.

And that is all I want. Regardless if I have a "favourite" brand or not. I still want the competition to push a price war. When you get a war like this, often it is the consumer who comes out smiling more than the manufacturers.

Same goes for the GPU market. I do like Nvidia products, but I can't justify their pricing right now. Their 10xx series is a complete no go for me, even if it was twice as fast as my sli setup. I still couldnt pay £850 for 1 card (rough price equiv here in Norway)

Current GPU pricing is utterly insane. Indeed hard justifying such a investments to wife and kids.

"Sorry you all, only water and bread this month because daddy needs a new GPU". :D:D:D

Funny how kids change things, there was a time my Mrs would of been fine if I wanted to do something to my PC and it meant we'd be a little short for a while, since we had a kid it's he needs this or that and my PC's needs seem to go bottom of the list

My friend, why have you not introduced your wife to the PC master race? How dare y...

Just kidding. Its good you have your priorities in the right place. Your kids will grow into true PC gaming legends! ;)
