That doesn’t sound all that much for being a new (gen?) GPU...
It's double RX580 & more than RTX2080/2070 if 16Gbps, or equal to RTX2080/2070 if 14Gbps. Even if 12.8Gbps it'll be 20% more than RTX2060, should be plenty given this is certainly going to be a good ways off Radeon VII in both price & performance(With at most half the bandwidth possible with this bus width), so probably going to end up fighting around the two TU106 cards (RTX2070/2060). Essentially V64 performance ish for less money & power. Would be pretty potent if priced around RX480/580/590 launch prices, can't really expect more than that.

From what I can see and have read, it's not. It's still GCN.
Apparently the completely new gen is coming after Navi. I am a little disappointed, but we will see how GCN fares going into the future. It's pretty good at DX12.

Honestly i stopped being excited for AMD. Yes they nudged Intel a little bit on the CPU front, but it is more like poking a bear with a stick. On GPU front they just failed. It is new this, new that, revolutionary 7nm, and it is just more of the same. I am really hyped about Intel's GPUs. With their basically unlimited R&D budget they might be the ones who will finally bring Nvidia some trouble.
AMD will be OK, and continue to mingle at mid level hardware. They may be happy to be there, but i doubt they will release a product that would make me want it so badly that i restrain myself from beer.

For now they just need to reaffirm a good foothold in the £200-£300 space and mobile GPU markets. Sub £200 they're still quite strong so if they can maintain that with cards efficient enough for laptops they're hitting the two key markets in terms of profitability & market share. I doubt the £350+ desktop GPU space will get any attention until next year, even NVidia's cards aren't really selling well in those ranges atm.
