Everyone here is saying AMD can't go under and etc yet how many of you have GTX 900 series card? More of you do than AMD cards i'll bet.
Reason why AMD is failing:
1. People think there drivers suck. False.. i think they are better tbh. Plus they seem to get more performance from them. Crossfire Profiles don't really make a difference, so really AMD and Nvidia are even there, Nvidia just release more often but its not like they improve performance like AMD does.
2. People think You get what you pay for. Debatable and not always true.. 290x is faster and cheaper than a 970.. yet people will get the 970. Hell a 290 is damn near the same as a 970 and it's even more cheap in comparison. Only thing Nvidia currently has is the 980 and TX, yet i can get 290x in Crossfire for hardly anymore than some base 980s... but people will still get a 980.
3. Nvidia seems to have every single PC Game Maker in their pocket. Nearly every single one advertsies more Nvidia cards than AMD and Nvidia cards are more often then not at the top of the list, potentially equating more sales.
4. Nvididiots. Got some hardcore fanboys that always jump to save them.. swear it's identical to Apple but for PC computing.
5. People give AMD shit for nearly everything. They do something good, meh gets some press. Something bad? Hold the pebbles and throw the shit. Nvidia do something bad? No one really cares. Look at the 970 for example.. many people got pissed and then upgraded to a 980.. i mean what? That's punishing them? How? That or they tried for a refund got denied and kept it. Or just didn't care... AMD business would have been gone under for that. Nvidia do something good? People praise them..
6. AMD are open source. Nvidia are closed. Again like Android vs Apple here.. not entirely but it has some truth to it
7. Mobile. Nearly everything has Nvidia GPUs. Probably due to power consumption but i don't know.. never bothered with mobile. Don't care about it tbh. But nonetheless it hurts AMD a lot when it's pretty impossible to find any AMD mobile GPU laptops out there
8. AMD has a CPU business. Nvidia does not. Nvidia can focus more into their GPU business while AMD has to split it and compete with Intel. Also the fact Intel controlls nearly everything... though owning the best fabs in the world will do that..
9. AMD's CPU business has failed since FX was born. Bulldozer sucked, Piledriver was much better.. yet no one cared because its AMD and they got a bad taste in their mouth from the Bulldozer.. honestly AMD cpu's like the 8320 are bomb for the money, $100 less and put that towards a GPU and you'll get more FPS.. But again people want Intel.. hurts AMD
10. Add all this up and everything is stacked against AMD tbh. Consoles won't provide much more revenue. Especially since they are starting to drop off in YoY figures.
AMD are, in my honest non fanboy opinion, the better company than Nvidia. I orginally got into computers thinking Nvidia was everything(another problem i suppose to new people getting into computers) but as time went on my opinion has changed to AMD being better. If they fail then i guess i'll be stuck with my 7950 for a long ass time or i'll just buy 290x in Crossfire when they clear stock. Nvidia won't get my money for a long time. They need to earn it and not be so damn greedy.
agree with almost everything there, except I do recall a certain someone disagreeing with me when i said that the whole 970 mess would just blow over. Anyways the main reason why I wouldnt even bother considering AMD for a notebook is because their last GPU was literally the 7970m.

Wouldnt AMD cards get no driver updates if they fail though? Or am I missing something here. Nonetheless, it isnt likely that AMD will fall. They may end up being bought out, but thats about it. Plenty of people with too much money laying around that can afford to lose it.
