I was secretly hoping AMD could pull it out and get one over intel. Shame. This is like watching the pentium 4 all over again. On paper faster, but in reality slower and much hotter running. Oh well, Sandy Bridge E for me
I didn't think it would be good, considering the 125W TDP instead of 140W and the low asking price of $250. SB-E all the way. I'm glad I didn't invest much into an AM3+ board (I got an AM3 board). Hopefully, we'll see some competition between the 8150 and the i5-2500K, price wise (may go 1155, IDK).
Very shocking results. If this is the best AMD can come up with, their is no hope for them. People who were eagerly waiting for Bulldozer would have been better off with the 2500k or even the 2300. It is still early days, so things may change.
Just imagine, AMD comes out with another CPU to replace this. It's like the controversy between the time it took the 1155 to replace the 1156 chips. Definitely hope AMD is still in the game with their 7000 series video cards though. Please please please be great.....
I'm not surprised at all to be honest i'm not an Intel fanboy or anything but I just knew AMD wouldn't come out on top. It would have been nice to see them do it but you have to admit BD has failed in almost all aspects, even price/performance which is one thing I did expect them to come out on top with.
Already reading rumours (via the Chris Angelini/Tom's Hardware twitter feed) of a B3 stepping being rushed out, might explain why there's a shipping delay.
Can't really see it changing much though, unless there's a huge bug in the b2 step.
