AMD Branch out into Memory

It is an old news. Unless it is to refresh our memory.

They are probably going to speed up getting into this market though after their drama with Bulldozer, this was announced maybe a year or so ago though?

I'm definitely stupid. But can anyone explain me the point of AMD memory? Isn't it complete waste of money of an already drowning company? There are tons of good brands for reasonable price. And I doubt that a single chip has been made but other vendors, and not AMD itself.

Just another way for them to make money, i'm sure plenty of fanboys will buy it. AMD are far from drowning though, even though BD was fail it's actually selling pretty well.

Well the point is there are people out there not as well researched as ourselves who go all AMD and Radeon branding. This memory will really appeal to them. Memory rebranding isn't all that uncommon.

AMD isn't a drowning company, they're doing very well outside the enthusiast market. They're APU's are doing especially well, the 7000 series looks like it should be a success too.

I honestly don't know if its the right way to go for AMD. they need to show off some results after the recent sales drops.

Concerning the memory, they are just rebranded Patriot kits.

basically its re branded patriot memory the selling point of it is the quality control measures and making it have the same components time after time. Like current Corsair offerings have multiple revisions along the same part number. this AMD branded ram is not going to have that. So if you buy one kit today and another in 6 months it'll be the exact same suff as you bought 6 months earlier.
