Alleged RTX 2080 3DMARK Time Spy result leaks

I don't think you understood his argument bud^_^

Quite possibly ha ha! He explained it well in his reply just now :)

Edit: I'll be sore and laughing in disbelief if performance, regular, doesn't stack up with pricing (I understand that we may have to pay a little more for tensor and RT cores). I did find Jay's video a bit strange as well, it was very much a justification story.

I find the 2080 gimped in the VRAM department as well. Why not throw 10GB on it?

Because that won't be enough for 4k with RT and Nvidia would not want to over sell you a product. Not now.

AMD are in the distance, Nvidia can slow things down and charge tons of money for a temporary card. Well, temporary until they bring out another one at the same price or more next year.

So Jay's argument you are getting the same for less is BS. We should have performance jumps per price every gen and we are not. We are getting the same performance with some lame ray tracing (because it tanks the card at 1080p) for the same money.

Could be down to how the core is cut. Just like how the 970 was 3.5GB. When cutting down SM units you have potential to lose memory channels which can cut down total bandwidth and addressable memory.

How much VRAM would one need in the coming year at 1440p? Broad question, I know.

Hard to say, but I've been kinda watching my VRAM usage in Elite Dangerous. It's not a title that's particularly hard on hardware, but at 1440p it uses around 5.5GB of VRAM (max). That's going to be game dependent obviously.

That's pretty meaty considering what needs to be rendered in that game (thinking of picking up the offer on Steam - worth it you think?). I wonder how much titles such as the new tomb raider and metro will require.

Depends on what you like. If you're into space flight sims, it's hard to say no to a deal on ED, especially if you have a HOTAS. Worth every penny, especially on a good sale IMO.

Keyboard and mouse only and always

That's a bad attitude to have my dude. HOTAS and Racing Wheels shouldn't be frowned upon. Way more enjoyable to row gears with a stick then to hit a keybind...

Also trying to play ED without a Hotas must be impossible. You have your pitch up/down turn to port/starboard then also using thrusters for vertical/horizontal movement. Imagine trying to fly with just a keyboard/mouse. Not to mention maintaining control of power distribution, landing gear, weapons, etc.

Hell i'd rather use a controller than a K&M for that game.

From what I have seen then it sees the 2080 is around 5% better than the 1080ti.

If the 2080ti would be 25-30% better than the 1080ti then I would still wait for next gen 30xx Ti for a theoretical 50/60% jump from my 1080ti.

I have nothing against those; I may just play such a game once a year or two years so not worth it for me :)

If you have an Xbox one controller laying around just grab a micro USB to USB cable and it'll work perfectly.

Same with PlayStation 4 controller. Although you need to download a driver for it

No dude, I can't play with a controller, tried many times and it never ends well ha ha. I play FH3 with KBM even

I'm terrible with a controller as well. I only use controllers for games like Batman and racing games.

I remember GTA V was a nightmare because I had to keep switching between them depending on whether I was driving or shooting. :p

I know :) it's just my inability to handle them (always makes my friends laugh when I'm on their console).

I never found either confusing tbh. I've used controller since I was super young. Barely PC gamed before I turned around 14. Ever since then it's been a mix of both. I miss those days though.. super cheap computer hardly working playing Total Annihilation Kingdoms. Played it for a long time but not often. My father would always be playing. So I got stuck with the PS2
