All round pc build help

Hi Guys I am looking at making a new pc for general use between my gf and me (gaming for her, Data storage and media center use for me)

I have a pc part picker list as for what I would like to put in it please note though I have not included the ram (found a good deal on 24gb kit although my mobo can only use 2 sticks) or the gpu as I have those already from my pc before I upgraded,

Note:
GPU: Asus nvidia 640
Ram: 1x 4gb 1600 MHz Kingston (idk model no) ram
1x 8gb Konputerbay 1600 MHz ram

Here is my list:

My main question is are the parts i have chosen in the part picker list ok for an all round build for gaming media center use and some light editing / rendering (photoshop, sony vegas) and if so then i shall continue with this build (updates and pics ofc) as I get some money in, although any advice / help would be great (please keep in mind though I need to stick to the budget of a definite MAX of £250 or lower.

Moved to new build advice (for now).

A data storage/ media centre PC with only 160GB of storage?
You can easily bump it down to a CX430 too,

On that note, I must have forgot to add the extra storage drives, to my list oops :P,

I will later on after the build be adding a couple of 1/2tb hdds or network it up to my main pc to share data between both of the pc's

well yeah they are both DDR3 so they should work (some people have bad luck I did not when i tried it) work just the ram speed will be lowered to the limit of the one with the lowest MHz i.e the kingston one is 1600 but will only run at 1333 as the Komputerbay one is about that speed (some issues with things i am working on it though, but yeah just ask
 
Even if it doesn't work, 8GB RAM is plenty.

Video rendering experience is not going to be great on that CPU, but I guess it'll do.
 
Yeah 8gb is fine

as you say 8gb is acceptable (like the new standard for pc's) and also to note it would only be like tiny rendering of videos like collage videos / photo gallery type stuff not planning to go all c4d to after effects then permire with a bit of 3ds max to spice it up a little.
 
You could also consider the xfx 450w psu, Cs can be crappy but they it is an oem of seasonic £35 or so.

You could also consider an fm2+ a88x mobo, i've seen a few gigabytes for around £40 on amazon. The 760k can overclock pretty nice (4.5ghz)

Also the am3+ platform the 6300 is around £77 on amazon and say a GA-78LMT-USB3 (although try to get a rev 5 - the black one) for about £40

The 760k and a fm2+ board is a nice budget set up, just trying to compare!

Yeah I might consider a lower watt psu although i like the overhead in power just in case (changed for EVGA 500W ATX12V / EPS12V) , and for the mobo fm2+ one i am not looking at overclocking i have no need to push things further than stock and the mobo it's self as long as it had 2 pcie slots and 4 ram slots das ok (changed to a a88x msi) also thanks for the compare on the am3+ might check it out but might make my budget tight

Now this is atx and not matx, so that is your call but the mobo is very nice for oc'ing at a later point with 6+2 powerphases if/when you get an aftermarket cooler. You could also consider the GA-970-UD3P which is i think around £64. You also get a rock solid psu by a great company.

But that is atx and not m-atx. But the 760k is a nice build aswell.

Now this is pushing your budget higher, so maybe go for the fm2+

The psu for £52 is very good though! Note it comes with a european socket, so having a spare kettle lead is important! :p

^just read you don't wish to overclock, you could consider either a cheaper mobo, or even look at an intel... Just tried to include a locked i5 and a h87 mobo, but its £30 over £250 :(

tbh i think ill stick to what we have sorta got so far the fm2+ a88x and the 760k and use the spare dosh on maybe a tiny bit more ram or just buy storage drives :P
 
No worries! The 760k is a nice chip/set up aswell imho and will serve you well! The nice thing about them is the updated motherboards and the possible upgrade to kaveri at a later point aswell (And saving a few quid for other bits!) I think the 1tb blue wd drives are about £40 aswell, so something to consider! :cool:

ye i have to agree with Wraithguard coment that PSU definatly a no no i would not go eny less than £35 on a PSU you would be best to get a Corsair PSU and as for the cpu cooler go with the

well as i said at the top of this page my plans have changed and i have money to spare so i am going to use my i5 then get a bog standard mobo with a stock cooler cause i am not planning to do any overclocking. as fro the psu i know that it is cheep but i am only going to use it lightly so i think that will do fine for now although i may change it if i get the extra money (only planning a build not going to build it yet without any money)
