Afterburner 2.2.3 Unlock Woes

Finally got round to buying myself a graphics card for my PC, and already I've run into a small issue.
I have a MSI r7850 PE OC, with a 950MHz factory overclock.
Now, through Afterburner 2.2.3, I am able to push that up to 1050MHz - not nearly as high as some of the cards i've seen on the interwebs, and that's with my slider maxed out.
I am aware that you can unlock Afterburner, or at least that you could in the past, but I am having issues.
When I try to save the .cfg file an error message pops up with 'Access Denied'.
Have yet to find anything on Google which adresses such an issue, so I hope one/some of you geniuses can help me out.
And yeah, i've unchecked the 'Read Only' box on the MSI Afterburner folder.

Regards,
Josh.

You need to give yourself permissions to the file:

The way i did it was launch the editor with "launch as administrator" and then open the .cfg file through the open menu of the editor.

Tried M&P's method first and it worked! Thankyou muchly :)
The website that i'm reading at the moment in regards to unlocking afterburner says that if you own an AMD card, simply typing the 'I accept that MSI aren't at fault' and adding the '1' isn't enough. That post was from 3 years ago, however.
So, can I leave it at that, or is there more to do here?

Try it, for me it didnt work becuase AMD has removed 2 DLLs in the Driver from 12.6 and above i think.

You need to get those to make it "work" (didnt for me, gave me flickering and faults all over the place with just +1 MHz on core).

AB is more of a pain atm, i like it for the monitoring, but if you want to overclock i guess youre better off with trixx atm.

Well, it seemed to unlock the sliders just fine, but now when I try to apply the changes that I make, it sets the core clock down to 0MHz! What the...

I've just updated to 12.8 in CCC and obviously had to apply my OC settings again.

I didn't even re-install AB but did have to edit the config (which is reset with every driver install):

Just change the highlighted section (on the left) for this code snippet:

UnofficialOverclockingEULA = I confirm that I am aware of unofficial overclocking limitations and fully understand that MSI will not provide me any support on it
UnofficialOverclockingMode = 1

Then I restarted my machine to let the driver and registry do it's thing. When I came back and loaded MSI AB my profiles were still there. I loaded up my stock volt OC and although I got some weird GUI effects the OC works fine - I've ran it through heaven benchmark without issue - I had an HW monitor running throughout the benchmark and my GPUs were running at 1060/1575 even though the sliders read 0.

It sounds like the same issue you are having where the sliders grey themselves out to 0 after any profile is applied (including the reset profile button). You can see it here but I'm not having a problems with the OC other than the looks in AB:

Trixx does unlock the Voltage, you need to scroll down via the bar, didnt find it myself either but look again :)

My Afterburner looks just like yours does after you apply a profile, except I don't have anything applied. The Core Clock and the Memory Clock are completely unresponsive. I tried entering in a figure and pressing apply, but GPUz is recording no change in clocks.
Could this be a Catalyst issue?

Just tried Trixx once more, and the only voltage option it provides is VDDC, which isn't enough to get me stable.
Methinks this is a CCC issue.

Yep! I gave it a quick go last night and it seems fine. A much neater fix to be honest! I'll see how far it takes me when I get some time next week.
