Advice on the TX 750m Please

Greetings.

Im new to the forums but i have been a viewer of the youtube TTL channel for a while. Anyway on to the point of this post.

Novemeber 2012. I built a LGA 2011 rig.

Asus P9x79 Pro
Intel 3930k (4.6ghz offset OC 1.36vmax)
Noctua NH-D14 Cooler
G.Skill 1866mhz Cl9 RAM 16gb
Gigabyte 560ti (384core) SOC 950 Edition (brought over form old rig)*
Corsair Performance Pro 128gb SSD
2x 10k RPM 500gb HDD Raid0

PSU: Corsaire TX 750M

Right so, im gunna be doing some more changes to the rig somtime in the next couple months..cant say for sure when exactly.

The problem i got is a very annoying coil whine from my PSU. From my understanding the Corsair TX series PSU's were meant to be really good so thats why i chose it..but straight from the start it had this coil whine that is loudest when the computer is off with power just going through from the socket.

Need some adivce from those in the know..Does the TX750m suffer from coil whine as standard or have i got a dud that should be replaced ? its still within warranty.

On the point of coil wine. I also get this other electrical whine that happens when i move my mouse, its not loud tbh, but its there. I 'think' its also coming form the PSU but its at such a high pitch it VERY hard to pinpoint and no1 in the house other than myself can hear it. Ideas ?

Thanks :)

*I know the 560ti is totaly out of place in this rig, i was waiting on Nvidia's new flagship single core graphics card (possibly for a 2way SLI setup)..unfortunatly its turned out to be the GTX Titan which is waaay more expensive than even my worst case estimates and imo is a total ripoff for what it is. So even though i have enough money to buy 1 Titan... im now waiting on the GTX 780 instead.

welcome to the OC3D forums.

ive had three TX750 and they all squeal with a descent load on them. its the type
of PSU for the cost involved. and the older the PSU got, the louder they got.
think moving to the HX or AX line-up. . i did and those annoyances disappeared.

I thought the HX had the same internals as the TX with the only difference being that the HX was modular?

Not sure if that's changed recently?

Any way I wouldn't put up with coil whine I would RMA it.

First I would make sure it is the PSU, coil whine is common with gpu's aswell

but straight from the start it had this coil whine that is loudest when the computer is off with power just going through from the socket.

Well i have 3 choices.

1)I can return it under warranty and get another TX750m as a replacment to see if that does it.

2) I can return it under warranty and get a different PSU altogther.

3) I can leave it as is and use it with another build i 'may' be doing for a family member, and get myself a different PSU.

I have no backup PSU's so im going to be without my Desktop for the period it gets sorted so option 1 could end up me sending it back twice if it turns out to be a model issue.

If i do change PSU's competly ..does any1 have any reccomendations on what to get? You think i should stay at 750W considering my rig and possible furture 2 way SLI 780's (not the GTX Titan) ? What make & model ?
It has to be silent ..both fan wise and electrical noise wise. It has to be modular for tidyness, and be at a reasonable price (£70-£100)

Appreciate the help.
