Advice for Watercooling SR-X Build

Hi all,

Waiting for new hardware is a killer, but as it gets closer to the time I am trying to finalise details in my head of what I want to do.

I am planning to get an EVGA SR-X, and 2-3 Kepler cards. I would want to watercool both CPUs, the motherboard and the cards. (possibly ram if I can, but I'm not sure how easy that would be on this board) And while I do have a fair amount saved up, I want to save money where I can without going too overboard.

Obviously none of this hardware is released yet so hard to judge, but if we can go on current gen SR-2 and 580s for example, how many radiators and loops would I need?

On my previous build I went for a 2 loop set up, but since reading about them I have found that it was probably way overkill and wanted to go for a single loop on this one. I also had 2x 480 radiators in mind for this build, but do you think I could get away with less? Been hearing great things about Mayhem's new rads too. I would prefer to have one loop (with 2 pumps?) Would that be good, or with the amount of heat output would it be better to go for 2? The case I was thinking of getting was the Xigmatek Elysium, so even if it is a big case I am worried everything might start getting a bit tight!

Essay over, opinions appreciated

It's hard to say without knowing how hot the Kepler cards run but if we say they will be as hot or slightly less than a 580 i'd say you are definitely going to need two big rads.

2x480s should do the job you could probably get away with a 480 and a 360.

Alphacool are bringing out some 80mm thick rads soon

so a 480 one of those and something like an RX360 should be enough.

Cheers for the advice. Yeah that's what I was about thinking. I did hear Mayhem's 360s were as good as normal 480s. So will be good to see how they turn out.

I don't think Mayhem is making the rads now, he said something about it on Specialtech about it. I just had a look for the post but I can't find it.

I'm 99.9% sure he isn't working on the rads anymore though.

EDIT: it might have said "on hold" not "not working on them," still unsure though.

Oh wow. Didn't realise that! Made myself look a right fool!

but thanks for letting me know. Will keep an eye out on the latest radiator tech to see what the best ones are then

Cheers for finding that post. Yeah looks like I will have to look down other avenues now. Shame. But we will see what else I can use instead!

Sorry, bored at work, that's why I keep giving super quick replies! Not just constantly watching my own thread! Haha

But yeah that's what I was thinking. Wanted to go EK blocks all round. But then would having 4 extra ram water blocks in there hurt the "one loop" idea significantly?
