Hi everybody am helping my neighbor 17 year old son build a rig i was just wondering what is the best bang for buck he mostly will be using for over clocking benchmarking hes addicted to that he also will be gaming, windows modding,PS editing, media & video editing and surfing online 24-7 lol he lives on the computer What motherboard will give him better performance and high OC in the 200 to 250 USD price range? I thought maybe the ASUS SABER TOOTH Z77 http://www.newegg.co...77%20sabertooth he has a nice CPU he was over clocking on a Extreme3 Gen3 5.1ghz for benchmarks and 4.7ghz 1.3v for 24-7 use so we know his CPU will not be a factor in limiting his over clock i am 32 years old so i am not sure what these youngsters are into these days! But,whatever it is i can build it lol.... I'm on my 4th build right now, so I generally know what to look for and I try to keep myself up to date with tech stuff. but honestly the past 6 month i have been to busy to keep up to date as much as i would of liked.

He pretty much has everything all he needs is a Intel socket 1155 motherboard any suggestions would be much appreciated i personally think he be best of getting a ASUS ROG MOBO but he cannot afford that plus that might be over kill since hes only going to be running a 2-way SLI\CF 2x MSI GTX 580 Lightning Xtreme here are the other system spec RAM:G.Skill Sniper Series 8GB @ (1866)

HDD\SSD: x1 500GB Hitachi Deskstar x1 Seagate Barracuda 1TB x2 64GB Crucial M4's RAID0

Power Supply:Cooler Master 1200w Gold

Case:Thermaltake Overseer RX-I

Cooling:NH-D14

Keyboard:Razor Black Widow

Mouse:Logitech G9x

Monitor:Acer P243W

those 3 are good ones no doubt

but i have a question what the hell is he doing over clocking if he dont know how to build?? the saying Give a bloke a fish he eats for a day, teach a bloke to fish and he eats for a lifetime comes to mind lol.

mmm yeah, which 1155 processor is this?

id say the board hes got is just fine.. a MOBO swap will not improve any of the functions to a noticable

increase by just changing the board. for the vid edit and render, the z68 (with vid output)

and the virtu can help, but its not the $200 besting to look for. or even the Ivey Bridge and

Z77 board could help. if hes needing more than the 17 is tasking, either save up more or

sell the SB and look into the 2011 6-core projects. my opinion.

CPU: Intel Core i5 2500K

http://www.newegg.co...N82E16819115072 that is the one he has as far as ivy goes i don't think it's worth upgrading to it also runs allot hotter it might be worth him getting a i7 2700K or even i7 2600k but i am not sure performance wise it be worth the investment i really don't think so though as for the mobo he has now one of the PCI-e slots are dead. Another weird thing even though it is ATX, for whatever reason it did not line up with the ATX standoffs of his case, and his dad had org payed geek squad to put his rig together by the time i seen it i notice the mobo was only mounted on one side of the case result from that the NH-D14 was making the mobo flex i don't know how best to describe it but look lke Micky Mouse put his rig together ATX standoffs I had to reposition many of them and actually drive holes not a big deal but my point is the mobo was made funky and the geek squad clowns just decided to do a half ass job so that mobo is on it's last limb it been abused badly lol i later found out that all the extreme3 gen3 have that issue .I agree for 121.99 it's a solid as it gets for that little of money but now that he has another GTX580 this mobo is useless anyway let me stop boring you thanks for your opinion
