I have been offered an abit IP35 Pro Off Limits for £55 second hand is this a good deal or do you know a better one? Is the abit a good board or should i be looking at an Asus P5k? Or is there another board i should be looking out for?

Thanks for any replies in advance,

Dave.

The abit is a very good mobo, quite possibly the best overall P35 chipset board.

But why would you want to change from a P35C-DS3R to another P35? (edit: saw your post re. is my Gigabyte dying)

It's kind of a sideways move. If you wait a few weeks for X58 to launch there should be s/h P45s, X38s & X48s on the market as some enthusiasts switch.

I didn’t know that as i haven’t upgraded-followed the component scene since i built this system. Which is the best value board P45, X38, X48 i will only be using one GPU and a Q6600 but will want a good O/C?

Not a total bargain then as the asking was beaten down from £75 and it has no receipt i.e. no warranty.

Dave.

the 1 on OcUK is "B-grade" though & may be missing some bits etc.

for a single GPU, P45- but there won't be much difference to a P35, it's main improvement is the ability to run dual x8 PCI-E 2.0 Crossfire as opposed to x16+x4 PCI-E 1.x on P35.

So i may not gain anything significant waiting for the P45 with using the Components i have?

if you only intend to run a single GPU then correct.

tbh there wasn't much overall improvement from 965>P35 & it's the same for P35>P45.

i can vouch for the abit board, with good ram in it (do you have 4 x 1gb or 2 x 2gb?) it's absolutely rock solid.

i did have some issues with ballistix but i solved that by getting some ocz platinum now it hasn't crashed at all in about 4 months, and will happily run 24/7 for weeks on end :D

i'm not sure how it is with tracer but the ballistix i had was giving me issues. but tbh i think that was more the ram than the board since it's now 100% stable :D

Off-Limits no-question. In regards to the opening question.

It can be bought retail still at some places, although the XE version (1600 fsb) is it`s replacement.

Thanks for the replies. I have lost the use of the PC for now as all the BSOD have corupted windows. I am installing all the updates now after a clean install (hopeing it was a windows fault) before i make an offer on the Abit.
