Hi guys,

I've been using my system for a while now and all was well until i got a raptor 150 from Big Phil. I put it in and it failed to boot after installing windows and smart told me to replace it, so off for rma it went. While it was away it got upgraded (in their eyes) to the raptor 150 x (the one with a window). I couldn't be bothered to complain so i just threw it in and the following happened.....

Formatted - Fine

Copied Files - Fine

Reboot

BSOD - Motherboard is not ACPI compatible (WTF!!!)

So i logged on to the forums over at asus and it would appear there are lots of people who have this problem. I tried every single suggestion....

-Enable paralell port

-Turn APN off

-Change bios

All to no avail! I have tried every bios there is and nothing works **BUT** if i unplug the raptor and boot off my samsung spinpoint 250gb all is fine, and i didn't change anything in the bios settings either.

Oh and the raptor is 100% healthy before someone says it's the hard drive because it is currently installed on my wifes machine!

HELP HELP HELP HELP!

Aww bless you mate, you know I'd come along. Cant beat a good wedding! ;)

Reference the problem is there no "official" or beta bios that deals with this. The problem is who will take responsibility for this - Asus or WD?

Just to add I havent had an issue with the Premium boards I've been using here so it must just be this particular board.

Have you contacted WD as i have heard with the Maxtor drives needing a firmware update for the drives to work, so it could be a firmware that is needed to make the WD raptor to work.

Sorry I could not get on MSN earlier buddy.

It could be a faulty mobo if the drive works fine - I'd RMA it and get them to check it out, unless someone else can lend you a raptor to try out?

Have you tried using the sil SATA ports instead of Nvidia (or vice versa)?

Hi mate a have had a good look for you and have come across a ASUS tec that i used to Mail when i had ASUS boards, he has now got his own site, but still works as a tec for ASUS so give him a look in, thinking about it it can only be your M/B as the drive works on your partners M/B, it sounds as if there is something wrong with your RAID Controller having difficulty recognizing Western Digital raptor drive.

Anyway hear is the link.
