a problem install

I'm having real troubles installing this copy of windows onto a computer.

What I need is the Sata/raid drivers for a ECS 66GX-M7 motherboard (its LGA77)

I put the windows disc in and it came up: hal.dll is missing set up will now exit. Thing is, I have used the same disc before and it still worked.

I'm very confused.

are you sure you are installing onto a freshly formtted drive and not over an old copy?

my disc did that, turns out it had greasey finger marks on it lol

yeah its a freshly formatted drive I only just formatted it in my current pc (the one im on now)

I hate computers, I may just sell this and get a dell laptop, at least i know that its going to work every time i turn it on. I mean my rig, not the computer im fixing, my rig still has too many problems with it, that frustrate me so much, that i feel like shooting myself...

ima tad confused....you say u need SATA drivers.....but when does this error msg come up? before you install em or after?

Right, I havn't got the sata drivers, I downloaded the driver thing off the ECS website, but it is one of the most comprehensive and easy to use set of drivers i've ever seen so I couldn't get them on the disk.

So I just insert the windows XP install disc, it loads the stuff, then says hal.dll is missing setup will now exit blah blah blah..

I don't get anywhere near SATA driver install.
