A Level Desk

Hi everyone!
This is my first post on these forums for quite a long time, although I have been around reading all the time! Over the years I have read and been inspired by many excellent project logs but the one that really gave me the idea for this build was the L3p Desk.
Now a quick apology for the pun in the title, this is my A level project as well as a scratch build. I need to obtain user feedback for various stages of the design and making process so please comment if you have a suggestion on how to improve a certain aspect of the design process and I may well implement it into the desk. All of your comments are greatly appreciated so if you do choose to comment, thank you for doing so!
Now then, time for the boring bit to get out of the way, let’s get this project log underway!
1.) The first thing I needed to do, after some research of the market, was to write a design specification for my desk. To summarise on this specification, the desk must be an adequate size to hold a range of motherboard sizes from matx – hptx. Also, it must be adequate size to fit into the home environment and fit around the user so it is comfortable for the user to use the desk. The desk must also have a high quality premium feel to it and as such a premium material should be used. The material I chose in the end was oak (the first clue as to what is to come!).
2.) Initial Ideas – Now I have a design specification I can start to think about initial designs for the desk. At this stage I am just trying to come up with a range of initial ideas and then I can use the best parts of each idea for my developed ideas.

This will be a triple monitor capable build, I have given some thought to the components I will use and it is likely to be an SLI configuration with triple monitors. Stay tuned for some PC goodness! :)

Well that’s the end of my first post about this, thank you for reading this far! Please leave some ideas and suggestions on how I can improve my initial ideas. I am very grateful for all of your comments which will help to contribute to and improve this project.
