900D Fan Orientation

On a AX360 in the roof, I am going to run SP120's in P/P. I usually like to run them in exhaust, but I am not water cooling my 2 7970's at this time.

This is the first case I have ever had that I do not have a fan on the window blowing in. Should I keep with my original exhaust plan, or make them an intake until next year when new cards launches and I am ready to upgrade, along with full water blocks?

Hi
I would still do exhaust at the top as it will provide a more natural escape for hot air rising and the 900D still has a lot of intake at the bottom and front and plenty of room for air to move around. I did that in mine.
For more advice it would be helpful to know were the other fans are to better visualize the air pathway.

Hope it helps

I am setting the rear as an intake. I bought a Silverstone 140mm magnetic filter for that. Then I have the three front fans coming in.

The rear and the front 3 pin fans will be controlled by the mobo. The push pull rad fans are going on Swiftech 8 way blocks on the Aquaero.

I guess if its too bad, I will take the bottom cover off the rear, and place 2 or three fans in the back bottom for a little more intake. I wish I would have know about the problem with the Swiftech block and the Corsair fans before I ordered, oh well. I ordered two blocks, so I can put each side of the rad on a block.

I think that would work as you have the radiator as an exhaust and everything else as an intake with good flow upward. However the trick will be adjusting the flow to prevent sucking up dust since in theory you have 6 exhaust fans to create flow. The 900D has a lot of meshed sections in the back, bottom and front bezel. In mine even with positive pressure a i still get dust but mine is on the floor by my desk.

The way i did is is go nuts with radiators. A 480 in the bottom as push intake, a 240 in the bottom as pull exhaust ( through and through). 3 front intake, back exhaust and a 360 on top push exhaust. Keeps the fans at very slow speed and everything chilly. I know it is way overkill but i used to have an i7 920. @4.2 and 2 gtx 480's overclocked so basically a 800w space heater.

What the bad part is are my gpu's are Windforce coolers. They don't expel hot air outside the case. That has me worried.

It may require some extra intake at the bottom if you get high temps but I think the hot air will have enough space to to rise naturally around the card. It's not like it is tight down there. That being said I've only run cards underwater in the 900d.

with the 3 fans at the front and 1 at the rear, your airflow should be fine for expelling the air from the GPUs. Nothing to really get worried about.

Once you delve into the world of water cooling too, all your cares will be gone when it comes to temperatures.

The good news is I just got up and running. Other than the annoying 140 in the rear, my GPU temps are actually better than my HAF X. I don't have a drive cage in front of the top two front fans. Just letting Valley run after the benchmark, I am about 7C less in the 900D on my GPU's. So far, I love this case.

PS
I think I may be the only person that the rear panel bulges when I shut it lol.
