My 8800 runs at about 68c idle and hits 82 load with the fan on auto but when i set the fan to run at set RPM's at 90% it runs about 62c on load, im currently lowering it to see where i can get a good noise/heat ratio.. Any ideas?? the case airflow isnt great..

Ok so its a airflow problem in my case the fans back at auto and its idleing around 63 with the side off and a case fan aimed at it.

How much heat can an 8800 take?

Oh, the 8800s can take a fair bit.

That temp is alright really, as long as you don't get any artifacts.. you will be fine! :)

I had heat issues as well with my 8800. I modded the I/O plate and it helped a little.

It seemed to keep the 8800 from heating up my case as much

(I made this one out of a scrap piece of alum)

I noticed when the card was running a lot of heat was coming out of the slots on the inside of the case. When i opened the exhaust it lowered the temp of my case a bit.

Both my 7800 and 7900 run around 80 load. All the research I've done indicates that around 80 is normal; I wouldn't worry about temps unless it was pushing 90.

Nice mod there mark. Yeh ive come to understand that these temps are fine. Thanks for your help guys... this is a damn nice card..
