8800 gts thermal pad thickness

Long story short: my gpu died, dropped in 8800GTS, it overheated, cleaned the cooler didn't help, removed the cooler to replace thermal paste and thermal pads on ram turned to dust.

So what thickness pads should I buy?

Thermal pads for the older Nvidia cards were 1.0mm thick and 1.5mm on the AMD equivalents at the time.

Listen man just be careful. I had a 8800 Ultra I ended up bending quite badly because I got the wrong pads.

I'm not saying Wraith is wrong (far from it) but yeah, just go easy.

Tis true, I've read other older forum posts (not just OC3D) with the same topic and they have replaced using 2.0mm with the idea that the pads are soft and squishy which causes all sorts of issues.

Aye, they really don't have much give in them at all.

I would do a dry run (so no thermal paste) and very gently do it up and make sure everything is home before going any further.

Mind you, I had just baked the card for a third time so it really was screwed any way.
