8700k Overclocking

I finally got the system sorted. After the RGB on the Trident z failing on one stick, I jumped in the car and picked up some non-RGB TeamGroup 3200MHz C14. for £40 less than the Tridents... ( turns out Overclockers is only 1 hour away!)

Just playing with overclocking.

To get to 5GHz it needed Vcore of 1.256 (1.272 LLC)

have only done a few passes of CB so far. (200 points over Auto/stock)

Update: Tried a Prime95 run, it detected an error on all but 4 cores, I don't want to crank the Voltages, so will leave the OC until I have done the Delid.

Does anyone know if this is a good chip??

Not Delidded the CPU yet, but have got the stuff to do it. (a little nervous)

Have done the Delid this morning. temps deffo dropped.

trying to hit 5.1GHz with Vcore reaching 1.36v still not able to complete Blend test.

backed off to 4.7 for now @1.288v. temps holding at 59c after 30min of Prime95 blend.

anyone got any advice on safe Voltages?

I don't know for the 8700k, but usually 1.4v is the agreed limit. It's been like that for a couple of years now.
Some go to 1.45v but don't know what the long term effect is.

Personally, I'd take the agreed and add a margin of error for extra comfort/safety.

In this case, the agreed is 1.4. Add in a margin of error of .05 volts, takes you to 1.35.

Oh well. Not a silicon winner.

But at least it can hit 5GHz.
Happy to leave it at 4.7 at the 1.288v.
Only a gaming rig anyway!

Edit:
have dropped the Vcore slightly to 1.232 (1.248 with LLC)
and have so far bumped the Multiplier up to 49. temps still under 60c. (NHD-14)
