7950 bad fps

I upgraded from my 6870 to a 7950 today and i expected a massive fps boost. The Benchmarks are okay, way ahead of my old GPU, but in games i gain 5-10 fps. so i searched google and all i could find were stupid people and driver sweeper. uninstalled the drivers, used driver sweeper, reinstalled, same issue. I also read that my CPU would be bottlenecking, but that doesnt make a whole lot of sense to me, the FX series isn't the best, but it isn't that bad.

just an example: bfbc2 starts with the 60fps even a laptop gets in the menu. until i open the server browser. 15 fps madness. i'm going to provide a 3dmark11 run, but only the basic one. give me a few minutes, i have a slow connection. here is my heaven benchmark at stock speed (i did overclock it to 1050Mhz core, 1500 Mhz memory, already clocked back. same results in game)

just re-ran the heaven benchmark to make sure that it isn't fried, i got the same results. should be okay.

Nevermind! Didn't see that the one I posted had AA turned off. Silly me. Yeah your score is normal. Which particular games are the problem, or is it all of them?

good god i just looked up a benchmark for the fx-4100 7950 combination and it resulted in the same benchmarks. could it really be the cpu?

it is all of them. i even ran an old game like cod4. i had a spot where i would get only 200 fps with my old gpu. guess what. 200 fps with the 7950.

On old games where you're pushing very high FPS the CPU becomes the bottleneck so try to focus on GPU intensive games such as BFBC2. Which drivers are you running? If it's the latest version then it's more than likely a driver problem. On the other forum I use there's a thread like this every other day and 9/10 the card is fine.
EDIT:
Do a full custom uninstall of your drivers and choose to remove everything. Then install the latest drivers which are 12.10 found here:

already did that, but i'm gonna give it another try. 12.11 is the driver i use.

now i'm sure something isn't right. i started bc2 and my fps are about the same as with my old gpu, a tad higher maybe. then i log in and the same menu i had 60 fps in before only has 30 fps now. then i go to server browser and it cuts in half again to 15 fps! also when i'm in game and i open my scoreboard the fps drop by at least 30

what monitoring you use btw?

also make sure you have disable all of the vsync and crap like that, sometimes it just decides to not work at all

afterburner. i dont use vsync at all. also with vsync i would be capped at 60 fps. i aint capped there. it's weird how the game starts with 80 fps avg and then just gets lower and lower until it is in the 40s. also why would the fps drop that badly when i open up the score board

alright the 40 fps seem to have something to do with the player count. but 32 players are nothing unusual, even my old hd6870 did better there
