7950 bad fps

i mean i max bfbc2 on my gtx 460oc which doesnt stand a chance again 7950, i run a quad 3.6ghz old gen amd so your fx should be better aswell. on same board even, 8gb of kingston 1600.

honestly no clue

it has to be something silly on your part matey

wait!

you said you oc'd didnt you? by any chance did the drivers crash after that?

when the drivers for a gpu crash it recovers to the default 2d mode, which is super underclocked, normally a reboot fixes that.

Try 12.10. The 12.11 drivers have caused some people problems with certain games. A re-install of Windows normally fixes everything but only do that as a last resort.

mate i didn't spend 300€ for nothing. i will reinstall if necessary, doesnt take long with an ssd. it's just sad that i will have to redownload everything from steam again.

this just happend.

One last thing, download FurMark and Realtemp and do a burn-in test, see how high your temps go and if you get any artifacting. FurMark is generally frowned upon but it really pushes your card.

Here is a little update. i reinstalled windows and therefore everything else as well. Played AC3 because it was the fastest to install since my connection is slow. In game my GPU temp is 63° steady, 90% usage, 25% fan speed, 900mhz core, 1250 mhz mem, 1GB memory in use. I've also been monitoring my CPU and this is quite weird. at the parts where my fps drop to ~40 the usage is at about 50%, but when the fps are good at 70-80 fps the usage is at about 80%. i'm now sure that it can't be the drivers, i think i need to consider the CPU again. Anyone fancy any overclocking settings for the FX-4100? i'm currently at 230mhz core, 18x multiplier, 1.44V

That sounds a bit like a driver issue to me. When playing dirt 3 with most earlier drivers I would get artifacts in rainy/wet tracks or with some of the drivers I would get only 50% GPU usage in wet tracks but decent FPS everywhere else. Latest driver fixes all those in game issues but slows down the loading time and FPS in the menu. So, the rivers are just not perfect!
