7900GTX / GT Specs & Info

Well seeing as we don't have a thread pertaining to the new 7900's here it is

Let's take a look at what nVidia will be unveiling shortly shall we?

7900GTX Specs & Notes:

*32 Pixel Processors (g71 8 cores x 1 quad x 4ps = 32pipes)

*Core: 700mhz stock, up to 750mhz (I would assume from manufacturers such as BFG / XFX / Leadtek that overclock them slightly from the factory.)

*Memory: 900mhz GDDR3 1.1nanosec, 512mb

*Process Fab: 90nm

Also...

1.FP16 render target MSAA support: Improves quality in which HDR is processed

2.Hardware FP16 --> RGBA: new type of multi samp AA, whats known is that it will allow nvidia to use HDR and filters (ati has it implemented already)

3.Hardware FP16 texure compression: compression of textures over 16fp(AS?) since HDR+FSAA consumes alot of the available bandwidth.

7900GT Specs & Notes:

*24 Pixel Processors

*Core: 650mhz

*Memory: 1400mhz with 512mb

*Process: 90nm

It would displace the 7800GTX 512mb since they wont be produced any longer.

Also, they will release the 7600 series, although there isnt much more info available about it. It is known that Nv will retake the mid and low sector market around april.

That's all I have for now. Any of you blokes have anything else about the G71's?

Hmm, those specs are totally conflicting with those seen by VR-Zone and the Inquirer. The 7900GTX according to them only has a core clock of 650 mhz, memory of 1600mhz, 512 GDDR3 1.1ns memory, and it's still slightly debateable whether it will have 32 pipelines or only 24 pipelines. VR-Zone thinks it'll be 32 pipelines and the Inquirer thinks it'll be only 24 pipelines. The difference between the GTX and the GT is supposed to be drastic, putting it at a core clock of 450 mhz, a memory clock of 1320 mhz, 256 GDDR3 1.4ns memory, and 24 pipelines. Where did you find those specs Frag?

I got my specs from XS as of the 7th... Specs may have possibly changed since then, I just looked at Hardspell which shows:

7900GTX @ 650Mhz/1.6GHz 512MB GDDR3 1.1ns RAMs

7900GT @ 450Mhz/1.32GHz 256MB GDDR3 1.4ns RAMs

^^as of the 17th.

There is another mini preview at amdzone which i posted on OC3D news section. Compare to them 7900 GTX will have 700/750 mhz and memory speed clocked at 800/900. As for the release date current latest drivers 83.90 supports these new cards so release should be soon i guess.

I'm sitting tight until the G80 comes and hits us in the autumn. I'm finding that the ATI drivers are pretty touchy so I think I'll be looking forward to that aspect of the NV card at least

I saw they are going to stop making the 7800 series. So not sure how long the overlap will be.

probably not long... no point in keeping the 7800's when the 7900's will be comparably priced and aimed to rape the 7800's in every way.

I give it 3 months for a complete phase-out.

It's going to follow a few months after... i think I can hang in with my 7800GTX's till then.

I think the 7800 series will still be made and phased out after a while. The 512mb GTX is deffo out the window (thusly another reason why I sold mine)
