Well, seems Nvidia has not totally forgotten that there is a still a market for AGP GPU's - the 7800GS will be the flagship product for AGP users. Especially as ATI are in the process of a full spectrum of AGP releases, the timing could not be more prudent for Nvidia to retain/attack this massive money spinning market.

More specs to follow but expect a minimum of 7800GTX 256MB speeds (450/1250) and similar shader pipes - but in 90nm I suspect.

Watch this space ;)

This would be good for the Asus Ct-479 setups and benchies, although I think it's probably time for people to move on really before their hardware becomes obsolete. Seems a bit odd to invest in old hardware, which is only going to become worthless much quicker than the PCI-E setups...

I was just wondering - would i be really limited with this GPU and a 2.4Ghz athlon mobile?

I've got a 6800GT and either i get a new system in a month or so built around 7900/x1900 and PCI with X2 to last two years plus, or I wait until 65nm?

tell you what though, looking at all the 7800GS reviews makes me feel happy that the card aged so well given i got it a long time ago and for only £230.

I only have a 2.4Ghz mobile XP, but my frame rates in lost coast and FEAR (no soft shadows of course) match tests that THG did on a 2.2Ghz 754 system but with the 7800GS.

and when i say match - either it beats it slightly, or is slightly slower, but not by a visible amount (10% or so or 20% at worst in either direction)
