780 Ti suggestions

You have a 770, what are you doing that card can't cope with?

That's a great question! A buddy of mine wants a gaming rig himself, and I want to help him out (while giving myself an excuse to upgrade ;) )

So he'll be getting my GTX 770, i5 4670, 16 GB ram, and a 650 W power supply from me.

Very nice, Which CPU and mobo are you going to get ?

Saw it listed on The PC Enthusiast under 8 Series mobos that are supported. I'll definitely check for an update, though. Also, side note, someone tried to log into my OC3D account more than 5 times... got an email with their IP.

1) Did I offend somebody in here?
2) Do I need to tell somebody here about that?

Change your password ASAP and then contact SuB, Feronix, SPS, Anyone one of the mods are helpful :)

Also do an IP search to find out where about this person is.

would a PM be the best route?

Yes, Not sure who here is in the Ukraine, They also might be using a proxy though so it could be hard to pin point this sneaky cretin.

That's what I was initially thinking. Oh well, I PM'd SuB.

Thanks for your help on a non GPU related issue.

Looking to get my hands on a 780 Ti, I'll be gaming in 1080p with a single monitor.

As far as overclocking goes, I'll just be pushing the card to it's limit at stock voltage. Max budget on this is $750 US.

Does the community have any suggestions on this?

Thanks!

A GTX 780Ti is a little heavy handed for a 1080p monitor :)

Yes thats from boost :)

Like it or not though the 780 Ti does perform better, As I said before I've had both 290X and 780 Ti *also played around with other 290X's apart from the Asus version* and I cannot recommend AMD cards at this moment in time and I am by no means a fan boy, I have had every variant of ATI and AMD card since the early 2000's.

When AMD bring their top of the line next gen card out that outperforms Nvidias top of the lines next gen card but with good temps I will happily buy it.
>good temps
75c good enough for you? The whole temperature issue is only really still a thing on a few cards now. Also, considering the price gap the 290x isn't that far behind now and even beats it at higher res (although thats almost deffo down to the memory available for each card). The drivers are getting alot more performance out of it now as well.
Which 290x have you played around with then?

As usual, I point to the fantastic Inno3d DHS iChill 780ti for my recommendation ^_^. Temperatures so good you can't help but OC.

-edit- Misread the thread. Whoops :^)

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I decided to go with the MSI GTX 780 Ti Gaming on Newegg. They are having a 4th of July sale and the price was too good to pass up. $630 US. Also a mail in rebate of $30. So after I do that, $600 US.

Inno3D wasn't an option for me, unfortunately. But I really do appreciate all the input I've received!

Oh, and the card is arriving today :)
