i cant find a decent thread anywhere on the interwebs

if i crossfire a 2gb model with a 1gb model does that mean i get 3gb of gddr, or will the 2gb card half its ram?

Hi from experience of doing it with other cards you will only have a total of 1gb as its the lowest card

The card is the same, so I think he'll get 3Gb. The card underpowers itself only when it's crossfired with a different GPU, the GPU here is the same, so yeah. I'm not sure though.

it drops to lowest cards specs always has and AFAIK always will so you'll have 1gb shared memory

actually it is neither

the card does not share it memory with other cards

the card will utilise as much memory from it's own resources when it is used

most of us know that... with two cards installed (sli/CFx)(without overclocking), they will always run at the slowest cards' speed.

this means that if the slowest card has the most memory there will be less chance of bottlenecking when processing HLSL/FX stuff.

but, if the reverse is true (fastest card has more memory).. the weaker card will be a PITA, as it will just slow the GPU computations down on BOTH cards
