690 Quad SLI + 304.79 ISSUE

hi i do have 2x 690 setup in quad sli but
i cant get the 304.79 driver to work for quad it works fine with 1 dual card in but not quad, so i had to go back to 304.48

its basicly once windows loads up i get massive stuttering and then a lock up , im wondering if its to do with the PCI-E revo x2 240gig hd and maybe somesort of pci-e issue or just a driver issue for quad

the MOBO is a rampage 2 extreme and i have a corsair 1000w power supply if anyones had any issues please let me know

I highly doubt anyone in the forum other than Tom has used 2 x 690's as it is massive overkill :L

You really should have spent money on upgrading to 1155 IMO

the plan is to throw 1 card in each of my rigs replacing the 590 in my main rig and the 295 in the other
but thats besides the point,seeing i got 2 i wanted to test Quad sli

and upgrading from a 990x i dont see it as an upgrade id rather wait for 10 cores+

yeah no worries the PCI-e Revo x2 240gig was like £500 when it first come out

my second pc has a 950 i7 in it thats does tripple channel memory also ( i got 2 beastly rigs lolz)

it would be nice maybe tom do a comparrison Using NEW GFX CARDS and the older sockets cause you can get cheap if you look about and its still great performance , all im missing is usb3.0 sata6bps and pci-e3.0 no biggy atm.

only other option for me to go is 2011 and for the money now i really should wait for the next gen stuff cause it aint thatmuch of an upgrade unless i go top top end

the 590 played eveything nice anyways i know but i just couldnt help myself

sounds like you've run out of pci-e lanes, try removing 1 card and see what happens

yeah i did that no stuttering or crashing but QUAD works fine with the slighlty older driver what i wanted to know is anyone with quad 690 having any problems with the 304.79 beta driver

in the review tom did i dont recall him saying what driver he was using while benching the cards

also the mobo will do 16x8x8 and the revo card only runs at x4 so it should be all ok, i just had a feeling that the stuttering was when it was loading up

As seamus has said I doubt anyone else here has a quad sli config with two 690's. You could try dropping Tom a PM to ask him?

Hello, I can confirm the problem with the 304.79 driver, and I have 2x GTX 690 and it does not work it come error only. (Also using the 304.48

in any case, with you everything is ok, it is just the driver I hope that soon a new nvidia driver makes

based on when tom did that video i doubt 304.79 was even available as a driver choice lol
