6870, but with 1 or 2GB?

Thank you spinal. I actually decided to go with the 7850, from XFX as well, seems the better option, not much more expensive and a better option for future games. I also decided to change the mobo, since most need that dreaded bios flashed before they work with the FX (stupid to the roots, if you ask me) to a MSI 990FXA GD65, which should theoretically work from the get go.

Just a quick question for you guys, is there any particular brand of 7850 that I should go for? Prices are exactly the same for an ASUS, MSI, Sapphire and Gigabyte. Sapphire is OC edition, but it looks different in the pics on the store compared to the card I've seen in reviews, which is why I would want to go for the MSI Twin Frozr. I don't actually care if it's overclocked or not, I just want it to be reasonably quiet. Thank you.

I would recommend an XFX card from my experiences with them. I've owned 4 cards from them and their support is fantastic

1 or 2 gb? - Depends a lot on the resolution you're playing on for >1680 x 1024 I would recommend the 2 gb version. In general I agree with Techie103 XFX would be a good choice.

Just ordered a Sapphire 7850 2GB OC Edition. For 150. Hope it's not a bad option. I've read every review on the face of the web, and all of them seem to agree that the card is good, both performance and noise wise. Also, keeps pretty cool. Thanks for the help guys.

He did already ordered.

Only bother getting 2GB if you're running more than one monitor, other than that, 1GB should suit a single just fine, I have 1.5GB and it's great.

Well that's how I look at it :) haha

I'm afraid not dude. 1gb doesn't cut it these days on 1080p high settings in many cases. If anyone is buying new they need to be getting 2GB+

And I'll second that. Unless you are happy to run your textures on medium detail, then everything will be alright ;)

Already got the Sapphire 7850 2GB OC, running like a champ. Nice and quiet and cool as well. Very happy gamer here. :D
