Ok so my work is having a sales incentive contest which top prize is 6000$ (USD) at any store of your choosing. They will even cover the taxes with this prize. As I dont need anything anywhere else I'd thought if I won I'd do a ball to the walls upgrade of my main. Looking at X99 and SLI 980's the 980's would need to be full cover block capable. So given that info what would you do?? So far I have a shopping cart at NewEgg.com filled with a tad over 5k so far. I dont need monitor keyboard or mouse or a case as it'll go into my Corsair 780T. So processor cpu gpu's memory new ssd's including an m.2 (if they are worth mucking with) Again the store is NewEgg

This is what I have thus far in my cart.

ASUS STRIX-GTX980-DC2OC-4GD5 X2

G.SKILL Ripjaws 4 series 32GB (4 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3000

MSI X99S XPOWER AC LGA 2011-v3

Intel Core i7-5960X Haswell-E 8-Core 3.0GHz

SAMSUNG 850 Pro Series MZ-7KE1T0BW 2.5" 1TB X2

SAMSUNG XP941 MZHPU256HCGL-00000 M.2 256GB PCI Express MLC Enterprise Solid State Drive

this is just a rough draft I havent had alot of time to research each component. I'm set on the 5960X.

total price thus far 5068$ without shipping.

My monitor is one of the Korean 2560x 1440 so I know those gpu's I've selected are fine for that. Keyboard is a Steel Series Merc Stealth and I have looked at replacing it but havent found anything with the extra buttons on the side which I have grown to really like. My mouse is a Logitec G500, just for a little more info if you think of a better alternative after all theres almost 1K left lol. Might have room to find some better fans for my rads which will get replaed with this upgrade should it happen I'll be upgrading to dual Alphacool 360 UT60's from another store, I already need to do this for my current build.

Anyway please post your thought and ideas. And if possible post any links to reviews of a product you suggest so I can see it.

If you're going to be overclocking, then the Rampage V Extreme might be a better choice with Asus's special sauce socket with the extra pins that is supposed to be better for overclocking.

As for everything else, I can't fault your choices that you have listed.

I initially went with the rampage but I'm trying to stay with my black and white theme but hell I can go black and red as well specially if I change out my fans.

lol forgot I changed mobos again with this thread. i had previously also looked at a different asus mobo as well along with the rampage

Why not the ASUS Deluxe series board. It has the ASUS OC socket and is black and white.

think I looked at that one as well cant remember why I changed it. I'm a Gigabyte fan but their offerings seem to be riddled with issues. I'll have to research it again lol
