5970 - worth it?

In all honesty, forget the HD 5970. Get a GTX 660 atleast. or an HD 7870, save on power save on cash.

Read up on it, in most case the 5970 will kick the 660 and 7850 ass big time. It is a duel GPU card and can also kick some as to the 7970.

Show me one benchmark in which the 5970 is faster than the 7970, especially with the 12.11 drivers. Notice in the following link how the 5970 loses big time in most real life benchmarks, not even being able to run Crysis in 2560x1600. The 7970 has 3 times the frame buffer, uses 30 percent less power, quiet, cool, better OC headroom, will continue to receive driver support. There is absolutely no reason why anyone should buy a card that is 3 generations behind, unless you can get a 5970 for less than £100. http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/587?vs=508

Read all the post on page 2 and 3, so you will know some things.

You are aware that in the link you just posted there are benchmarks in which the 5970 beats that 7970 right?

And also it really annoys me when people do the whole "its old therefore it is useless thing" thats rubbish, for example a 3 year old 5870 is in most games on par and sometimes better than a 7850, a card which is 3 years newer, just because it is newer doesn't mean it is better

Yes, there are, in which the 5970 wins by 2-4% max. On the other hand, most of the other ones are won by the 7970 by more than 10%, in some cases, such as Batman AC, the 7970 is more than twice as fast. Hell, the 5970 doesn't even bench in Crysis @ 2560. To put an end to this, I would buy the 7970 just because it is more future proof and it will be a faster card in future games, not to mention that it will also receive updates through new driver versions.

The 7970 is a 3GB card, the 5970 is a 2 GB card and it's dual GPU, so essentially it's 1GB per GPU. I won't be playing anything at 2560, so I'm only worried about 1920x1080. The reason I'm looking at a 5970 in the first place is because of funds. If I had the money, of course I would be buying a 7970, hell I would buy a 7990 if I had a lot of money. If I can get similar performance to a 7970 for cheaper, I'm taking it.
