Yo Guys,

Thought I would start a thread about the 5870 and its availablity, if you have ordered one in the last month or so, you will know about the lack of stock anywhere due to the low 40nm yields... (or ATI hoarding the chips for the 5890 Dual GPU cards)

I have had a pre-order with Overclockers for over 3 weeks now for a Saphire 5870, and am still 10 ppl down the queue.

Anyway, while I was browsing looking for a hint of availability anywhere I stumbled across the xfx 5870 XT (Overclocked 5870) Due in stock in Scan today priced at £312, I called Scan and they have said they are due now tomorrow and are actually cheaper than the standard XFX 5870, there arent many people in the queue so if you get in fast your order should be fulfilled tomorrow:

Hopefully this thread will be helpful and people can post when they hear about stock on any particular website at a resonable price now alot of the resellers are hiking prices! :)

THey are like rocking horse dodo to find i wa lucky to get a 5970 and they sold out after 2hrs,i was going to crossfire 2 of the 5870s if i could have found them.

Thats a joke, its only £50 more for a 5870, Oce'rs are really taking the **** with their prices, suppose you totally cant blame them, S&D and all that, but come on...

Ive been waiting a month for my 5870 now, got one ordered with overclockers and one with Scan... Atleast I got the pre-hike price.

Nothing to do with S&D imo. They know some1 will buy them if they add £100 to them.

Hell, if some1 like Scan took 20 into stock, they could add £200 to them and they'd ALL go.

Still tickles me that there are no articles bad-mouthing amd for it, even though it's nothing to do with them. Shoe on the other foot and there's riots in the streets, cars being overturned and set alight, TI going more idiotic than normal, SA jumping the bandwagon, Brown being blamed cos of his policies and ofc people going along with it.

It's the following morning and 11 of the 20 have sold. It seems to me as though people are thinking twice before buying these at £250 + Delivery.

Right guys,

Although the prices are High (comparitively), overclockers have alot of stock of 5850's and 5870's arriving monday, so if you are waiting for one, get a pre-order in now.

I believe they are one of the only UK distributers to be getting the cards in decent volumes.

Thing is, I know if I just wait I can get the likes of the VaporX from play for £310 inc delivery, I am not paying an extra £100 premium to have it now, its ludicris, but that seems to be the way things are going, if you have stock, personally I'd jack up the prices a little if no one else does, as they WILL sell...

Seems a pitty they are so few of them going, just when my 4870 dies and I need a new card...

£198 is a great price if they come back in at that.

Only seen 5770 cards physically on the shelves in the last week or so.

Scan have some XFX 5850's in stock, the black edition and the XXX edition.

Just bought myself the XXX edition, w00t.
