5770 Heat problem

10.6

I tried three sets on my 3870x2 and nothing mate. I know your temps were high, but with the fans working properly they should never ever have climbed that high. I've never seen my 5770s go above 59 when playing any game on the market. I usually only see about a 6c disparity between idle and load..... Unless I run Furmark.

But last night my 5770s were way way out of control tbh. And the fans were just sat at idle.

As for monitoring the temps with Afterburner? Dude, set up a custom profile for the fan/s. Honestly, I would lay the life of my cards on that proggy, it's bloody fantastic. I have it on a 2 second check. I hear a gentle whoosh every now and then that reminds me my cards are not hitting over 39c on idle. My 3870x2 now idles at 42c per core and the most I have seen the fan hit is 60% for about two seconds here and there during massive explosions in Fallout, at which point I can seldom even hear it.

Noise? I can live with. Dead burnt out graphics cards I am sick to death of. Infact, I am bloody sure my 8800u fan wasn't doing much either. It could be both the bios files I use but I don't trust any manu's drivers alone any more. Too Guinea piggy for me. Beta this beta that.. Beta smeta. Sod it, Afterburner FTW.

My 5770 still hits temperatures in mid-70's so that's still not as low as it was when I bought mine. And if I play a game, then quit the game, leave my pc for an hour, come back, my idle temperature will still be around 48 degrees. :(

I hope Azerty (the shop I ordered from) ships my order soon. I'm anctious to see how my F3's will do in RAID0, too. :)

I had my baracudas in Raid 0. Made hardly any difference. Well, it did in benchmarks but nothing I noticed on day to day use. I suppose if you really want to see a massive difference SSD is pretty much guaranteed to leave you smiling.

Yes I know. Actually performance isn't why I bought a second F3, I was running out of space. :)

SSD's are still way too expensive for me.

Aight, problem solves, reapplied thermal paste, used MX-3, temps dropped to 43 idle and 64 load. Thats a 15-20 degree drop right there.
