I am currently thinking about upgrading my old 980 with just under £300 to spend.
The 3 cards i am looking at are the PowerColor Radeon RX 5600 XT (£270)
The MSI GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER VENTUS XS (£250) and the..
MSI GeForce GTX 1660 Ti VENTUS XS (£280)
But i just can't decide help me!

Up your budget a bit IMO. The 5700 comes with enough games to make it cheaper than the cards you are looking at.

Sadly cards have shot up in price. Just recently you could get a Palit 2070 for £349.

I just don't think there's anything that costs less than that which doesn't cost far too much ATM.

I mean yes i have been looking at the 2060 but a good one is around £330/340 and i am not convinced about the 5700/xt over the 5600xt vs its price to performance the 5600xt is so dam close to its performance.
The games on the other hand i will probably never play i still have 3 games from a AMD bundle on my old AMD 290 that i still haven't gotten around to playing lol.
Currently all i am playing is forza 7, Conan exiles and dark souls 3...(Conan kicks my 980's arse).

the 5600XT is close to the 5700. However, most are clocked to hell out of the box (in order to achieve that) and thus don't have any headroom left in the tank. Many couldn't even be pushed that hard.

It just sucks is all. Like I say, a month ago you could get a 2070 for £350 or a 2060 KO for £299. Scan are just gouging now.

Yes GPU pricing seems to have gone up because of the covid-19 garbage sweeping the planet  i have an till the end of the month before i decide and if a see a good 2060 hit £300 i will grab it, i can already see single fan ones for £299 but i realy don't want a hot screaming gpu in my rig.

For under £300 my money is on one of those cheaper RTX 2060s ATM. If you want something that lasts, DirectX 12 Ultimate support could serve you well.

TBH, upgrading is a tricky business right now, as it's hard to tell exactly where the Industry is going. I've just told a lot of my friends to wait until next year, as competition and the new consoles should drive prices down.

That said, I have a few friends on HD 7870 Tahiti cards that are in need of a little upgrade love. Have a friend that wants something decent, but not sure what to get him.

UPDATE Well i saw a RX 5700 for £300 so i have ordered it (MSI Radeon RX 5700 MECH GP OC)
It should be a decent upgrade to my 980.

Wicked !

Yeah, the whole driver debacle could have worked in your favour there. That stall in sales would have allowed stock to build.

Drivers are fine now apparently :)

Just a little fun update my old 980 vs my new 5700 at stock speeds.
Its a nice upgrade and its been running now a week and i have not had any problems, no driver problems no heat problems (the 5700 is 15c cooler) and a it doesn't sound like a fighter jet!
