512MB GTX's releases Nov14th & Stocked!!

Ok, 8:40am, At the moment it is still nowhere to be found. If any one knows of any website to stock these. Please post here asap, or pm me. I'm desperate for two of these things. Cheers people :)

Part of me thinks this wont happen. Some posts at XS suggest that they will be VERY hard to get for at least a month. THe fact that no-one had it on preorder kinda ties in with this.

Maybe NVidia werent having a laugh.....

Sorry bit off topic.

Is there gonna be a big performance gap between the ATI 1800XT & 512mb 78TGX?

Surly the gtx is just like an overclocked standard gtx so if you where to o'clock the 1800xt they would be the better performer.

Plus as the gtx is running such extream clocks and the fact that its a 512 card which means more chance of a bad ram module, these wont o'clock much more than how they come out the box.

I am about to upgrade my 68gt to one of these puppies, basically what is the best? A show of hands please.

You could start a new thread with a poll. It could be an interesting one, although I have no idea; I'm still living in the 6800/ x800 times...

The issue wont be GPU yield issue - the current GPU is good for 660mhz with volt mods - the 512MB is generated from a revised PCB that provides volt mods already.

I can't find any either so I feel your pain :(

In saying that - the pre-order issue was never apparent with the last releases, 6800GS and GTX were all available - -perhaps the global release will be based on US timings? In which case expect the launch to occur on or around noon today.

There is a gap in performance in the GTX 512MB favour - is it massive? No. Is is enough? Yes.

Early reports say all current games tested the 256MB GTX, 512MB X1800XT and the 512MB GTX - the 512MB GTX came out on top easily.

The qaulity of the ram used bu Nvidia and ATI is such that there is suffcicient overclocking headroom for both cards (with the right cooling).

Cheers

I would say at £460 each - do not expect to see more than 250units in the UK today (probs until after xmas too).

Surely that will mean that they will sell out almost instantly?!

Best price on release day is £485 ea

So Mav and Scorchio have decided to wait for general stock to be released to make the price a much more acceptable amount (I was prepared for about £430ea but hoped a £400 release price).

As it stands the best comes at a very hefty price and GPU's have gotten more expensive over the past two years than I ever thought was possible.

Where from :D

Wow - considering how the review sites are awash with these cards I'm surprised they didn't decide to stick to more reasonable prices ;)

Nah - why should they lol.

Tell you what though - congrats to nvidia! They are worthy winners this round after 5900debacles.

Only thing if you need avivo stuff the ATIs aren't so bad.

Hmmm, now to see if i can afford to waste sli on 1280x1024 ;)

Tell you what though - it is really funny to see the review sites (just noticed techreport) who bench with bf2 and forget there is a 90FPS limiter that they can turn off from the game console - DUH!

£425ea is the magic number for me and scorchio.

yeah POV seems to eb the best priced ones at the moment.

For everyone's benefit - posting links to shops is not allowed on this site.

Cheers

Hmmm. 500 squiddles is a bit crazy when in the US they can be had for $600 which even if you add VAT and exchange rate thats £400.

Hopefully we'll get a crash right after Christmas?

Well, I'm joining the green hoard it would seem. My 7800/512 ought to be here either tomorrow or wednesday. If anyone wants a brand spanking new X1800XT at bargain price, drop me a line. :)
