42 inch tv color issue

Ok so this should prove to be pretty confusing given my nature of explanation. Ok, so I have a 42 inch plasma that i'm trying to use as a second monitor just to play around. I'm running an S-video to yellow/green/blue/red rca converter. Right now I just have the yellow one plugged in, and it's working, I just have no color. When I plug in the other blue/red I get wiggly colorful lines. My only outputs on the laptop are vga, and svideo. My plasma doesn't have either input...so i'm trying to get this converter to work. So i'm using the monitor to the left as my main, and the TV is to the right which you can't see. Any ideas? I know it's a confusing situation

Your trying to connect it through component

If you only have the red, white and yellow rca's you will have to plug them into red green and blue to get all the colours. That is of course if your tv has the component plugs.

a litte explanation:

A Component Video Connection is a video connection in which the separate color and B/W elements of the signal are transfered via separate cables from a source, such as a DVD player, to a video display device, such as a Television or Video Projector. This connection is represented by three RCA cables -- that have Red, Green, and Blue connection tips.

i hope it helps

Ok so I ignored the top yellow one, and plugged straight into G,B,R...Now the screen is pink...but at least its something. Do you have to have special component cables? Because I'm just using rca cables, and matching them up to G,B,R accordingly.
