4.5ghz, finaly after 2 years

Hi guys, just a little word to say thanks for the info in the forums......

After a bios change and lots of restarts I am now stable at 4.5ghz with temps maxing @82c / ambient room temp @18c

22 hours stable on Everest system stability test..

The Asus P6T SE is in fact a Asus P6T Deluxe minus the floppy and marvell controllers. The Deluxe version also came with a less buggy bios and SLI Support. So after grabbing a copy of afudos engineering version I flashed the bios from the deluxe and it works just fine....

BCLK 215 x 21

Cpu 1.45v

QPI 1.425v

Ram 1.52v

PLL 1.88

IOH 1.24

All other volts on stock..

Wouldnt have been able to get this high without the H100 though...

makes me wonder though when i've got my 960 on 1.35V at 4.2GHz on a custom loop with 3x360mm rads i'm getting temps the same as you :s

I think i must have come out badly in the silicon lottery
 
I also forgot to mention that I have lapped the cpu and the heat sink of the H100.. will post some photos next time Im inside the case...

I noticed that I get faster GFLOPS with 4.4ghz @ 1.42v than at 4.5ghz @ 1.45v in LinX so now I am back at 4.4 24/7

This means you need more vcore. It is a wierd kind of 'stability' whereby you don't crash/BSOD and you may not experience stability program errors, but nonetheless you are not at optimal settings for the given overclock. I had this when running intel burn test (which also uses linx if I'm not mistaken) and I fixed the low GFLOPS with more vcore. In my case I would actually have one or two short runs (in a series of 10+) that would run at normal speeds and then it would start to get slower and slower. You might not have this same behavior, but in general it seems that vcore is still the culprit. You can google this phenomenon - that's how I learned about it. It's not all together uncommon.

I doubt that your room temperature is 18*C/64*F!!! This guys room is an ice box! :-) Seriously - that is a major factor. I was just thinking about this today as I am about to receive a NH-D14 cooler this friday in the mail (I have super cheap water cooling -no name brand from ibuypower). And I was thinking if I could buy an a/c unit for my computer room because I live in NM and already April is supposedly on track to be the hottest April on record (we use swamp coolers out here and while they work well in dry climates - they just can't compete with refridgerated air).
 
Did u enable all 8 threads? Your volts are pretty low.

Yes lapping is worth it but you must lap the cpu, heatsink, and use indigo xtreme to see big changes.
