3pin on 4pin fan header p8z77 I-deluxe

Hi
I connected my 3pin fans to the 4 pin header on the motherboard, ofcourse everything works, but it works at max speed now and I can't set it to a lower speed :(
I know you're all going to tell me to get a molex to 7v adapter or similar, but then I'd need to add a cable and I want to keep the pc as clean as possible.

On other boards I used, there was an option to set it to 3pin or 4 pin, but this one doesn't seem to have that option.
Any help ?

I remember reading somewhere that if using a 3-pin power connector with a 4-pin fan header, the fan will always be on, there is no fan control so you do have to use a speed reducer in order to slow it down.

There's a guy on some other forums (with a name I believe taken from Stargate SG-1) that produces converter circuits that allows you to connect 3-pin fans to 4-pin connectors and run them as if they were PWM fans.
Sounds sorta like what you want.
