3DMark06 sub par performance with Q6600/8800GT

Generally mobo manuals will have a `prefered` way it likes the dimm slots filled, but even so, I wouldn`t have thought putting a stick in an unprefered slot would lower the cpu performance to such a degree.

Effecting ram performance maybe.

Wierd, can't see how which slot's the RAM are placed in can affect the CPU speed. Maybe a faulty motherboard.

With motherboards: thinking logically is not something you should do. I've had so many of them with quirks (and I mean a lot), that this doesn't surprise me in the least

at stock i got 9020 points.. so pretty much on par with what you got.. i'm now gonna start the process of overclocking since during the whole thing graphics temp rose... 1 degree... lol

(isn't your GT supposed to thrash my gts? 7 points isn't much? another 2gb of ram can't make that much difference can it?)

ok using rivatuner.. why the hell doesn't the actual clock change match the one that i change it to on the slider?!

The GT should easily beat the GTS for score

core: 555(567 actual ?)

shader: 1200(1188 actual ?)

memory: 802 (810 actual ?)

they change differently and its annoying..

anyway 3dm06 9449 i reckon i can easily crack 10/12k with a fair amount of tweaking considering the temps are still very reasonable..

should i overclock the shaders too? or leave em be?

next stop 600 core 900 mem

(i'm hoping to get 650 core 1000 mem at the end of this)

But sadly, I am not.. I will have to check some more settings and all that... I know my CPU is getting the correct CPU score in 3DMark06, I am falling short in the GPU scores...

Oh yeah, the GT doesn't clock well on stock cooling... otherwise I'd clock its nuts off

my cpu score at stock is 3567 (this seems to improve as i up my gfx overclock) i OC'd graphics and am getting 3610 at the minute..

I have just clocked the core and memory up on the GT and now get the scores below... I need to tweak the shader clock, that is what will make a difference

ok rivatuner is being a cow.. do you have to link your core and shader clock? as it won't let me go above 594 core now for some stupid reason without the shader being locked? is there like a maximum difference or something?

is upping the shader clock a good idea?
